Hi so today I had my first oil change at approximately 3.5k miles, done at the Dealership. The only mod I have on my 2LT is a VTC. I have never had any issues with the CEL and it didn't come on immediately after the oil change, I drove about 20 miles then it came on. Any one have any guesses? Could this be the VTC ? I just find it odd it happened right after my oil change so I am not really pointing fingers at the VTC as the issue. Thanks guys.

I have seen a few threads about the VTC triggering a CEL, but after starting the car a few times it usually corrects itself. If you are near a parts store, they will usually scan the ECM for free and let you know what it is.

Your gonna have to get the code scanned. thats the best advice one can give at this point. Now when you have the code that will tell us everything.

Keep in mind that a loose oil cap will pop a code... not sure if a loose oil filter will also. Maybe they overfilled it or didn't put enough oil? Be careful with that... always check the level after an oil change.

Your on warranty, bring it back. I do not trust anyone to touch my car for this reason.
I know someone who went for an oil change and CEL came on immediately afterward. Very mysterious. then the shop tries to sell her a cat.

You need new ball bearings and fetzer valve. It's all ball bearings nowadays. Now prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads. And you're gonna need 'bout ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Prestone. No, no make that Quaker State.
I apologize for the 80s reference for the folks here that weren't even alive in the 80s. |
