Soft paint?

Anybody else notice that the paint on these cars chips easily? It's really annoying, but not like crazy. It's just enough to piss me off lol. I haven't even tracked her yet...

Get a 3M Clear Bra- it helps, a lot!

Ya mines chipped up pretty good on my quarter panels just behind the doors. Specially the right side. I've wondered if it's actually the paint or the way that part of the car is designed. Catching all the debris from the front wheels. I know some day soon I'll have to paint that and that bugs the heck out of me.

Ugh I think we all know now that GM's paint quality sucks. Those who reccomend bras have a good point for the front but as for the rest of the car... You need a freaking straight jacket. Just got too use common care when washing. The front of my car somewhat looks like a hooker all beat up with scratches and used like that without that bra on. Oh well I'll trade her in for a sexy ZL1 one instead.

Get some splash/rock guards for the front tires.

This is not my car, but a picture from the Ebay seller who I bought mine from, I have had no more chips on doors or rear quarters since installing.
Fortunately mine had a clear bra already installed on front when I bought it.
I used Dr Colorchip to repair the chips I got, my car is Victory Red, and it matched perfect and looks good now.

I don't understand why everyone sys this. What issues are you having with it?

Mine looks better than the day I bought it (nearly 3 yrs ago).

I don't know if it's ground effects, the picture you have was taken in the dark, your car from the photo looks as if it has some type guard behind the front tires.

If so you wouldn't have rocks/pebbles being thrown at your rear quarters, so you wouldn't have chips.

Okay, the area around the "gills" have a few knicks, but never chalked it up to soft paint. I bet the gfx do help a bit. I have no bra or guard of any kind though.

I don't believe the paint is at fault either, its the design of the car, when the wheels are pointed directly straight they protrude slightly, and since the gill areas are wider than the protrusion, they catch the rocks/pebbles.

If the car is going forward and the rock is going backwards it has a high impact speed and results in a chip.

I know I haven't had any more since I installed the guards.

The front clear bra will protect against vehicles in front of you throwing them. I would think this would be more prevalent on highway/interstate driving, where it's not always possible to stay several car lengths behind other drivers.

I know the Dr Colorchip did a fantastic job of covering and hiding the chips I had on gills. My Camaro is victory red, and from what I researched before buying it, it works best on darker colors. But it is designed for small chips and light rash, which is what I had.

I may have to grab some Dr. Colorchip. I've been on the fence about it.

You ever get out to Shady Side? I went once this summer on a test and tune night.

If you get it you won't need the biggest kit which I got, the 39 dollar one will do. I didn't even use 1/4 of the stuff.

No I haven't been there. I'm one of the people who bought the G5 Camaro primarily because I really like the look of it, and sure I like to feel the V8 occasionally.

But I'm not into racing. Nothing wrong with racing if done legally, it's just not my thing.
