Issues with holding a battery charge????

So, I just got back from a two week business trip and came back to a dead battery...I know that lights/accessories were not on when I parked in the garage at the airport, so I ruled out driver error (headlights and cabin lamps are on auto). Once I got a jump, I let the car sit and run for about 10 minutes before I left the airport. I noticed that when I revved the engine that the gage cluster and "My Link" screen flashed on and off. I drove back home from the airport (about 20 miles) then turned the car off...I wondered if the car would start...it did not.

I have been hearing a noticeable whine during acceleration, which someone mentioned could be electrical related...could that be related to the alternator? If not, does anyone have any ideas?

Since it is a 2014 I would take it into the dealer and have it looked at under warranty.

good Luck. Subscribed to find out the end of the story.

Ive got a CAI inc intake and the lid fits over the ground post...could that somehow be draining the battery?

No, many of us have that intake. Bring it to dealer!

Sounds like you have a bum battery. The whining might be the alternator working overtime to charge a battery with a weak/dead cell. Take others advice.....Dealer

Hey SilverSurfer,

Sorry to hear you're having some concerns with your Camaro. I'm sure after A business trip, the last thing you want is a dead car battery. As other forum members have said, we highly suggest you take your Camaro in to your dealership to have your concerns diagnosed. We would be happy to assist in setting up an appointment if need be. Please let us know what you decide!

Thanks,

Jeff M

Made an appointment at the dealer to drop off the car today. Doesn't sound like they'll be able to do the diagnostic until tomorrow...will post again when I get more info.

SliverSurfer,

It's great that you've proactively reached out to your dealer for an official diagnosis. Keep us in the loop and updated on your service visit. If necessary, I can contact the dealer's Customer Experience Managers if you have additional questions. We'll look forward to your updates .

Well...finally got the car back after droping it off last Sunday.

Turns out it was a bad battery. They replaced the battery and ran some "run down tests"...not sure what exactly that means, but she's running strong again.

The whining noise is still there, so I'm going to keep my eyes/ears on it.

SliverSurfer,

Thanks for your update! It's great to hear that the dealer replaced the battery and ran additional testing to complete service. Please let us know how the vehicle operates moving forward and don't hesitate to message us anytime if any additional questions arise.

Something similar happened to me. I revved up one day after dead battery and my car stalled. Was scared as shit when the car wouldnt start again. Check your battery in the trunk. My negative connection bolt was loose. Tightened it up and I was good to go.

Seems to be good to go after the battery was replaced but it's still making the whining noise...going to wait a while and see if that goes away in a week or two since the new battery was installed.

Wellp, just a quick up date.

Things are hummin' and snappin' like normal now!

No issues...still hear that feint whining sound though. Think i'm going to check the cold air connections.

I went out of town for nine days and my battery was dead. Dealership gave me a new battery.
