Story of looking for a 1LE

Hi everyone,
So first things first I am new to the forum, I am a High School Senior. The bigger topic on hand is the story I have to tell. I currently own a 1979 Berlinetta Camaro, a Camaro with quite the story. My dad bought this car when he was 15 and he and my grandfather built it up as a drag car stroking the 350 to a 383 and long list of other things. However it sat for more than 20 years. This is when my grandfather decided we were going to rebuild it for me to have. So we tore the entire car apart other than the interior. We rebuilt the engine, put brand new accessories in, repainted it the same scheme it was in our garage, saved many parts that seemed to be goners, and many other things all on our own. This was about a year and a half long project. I spent any chance I had helping my grandfather and learning everything I possibly could. We finished the car about a year ago, (I shouldn’t say finished because you can never be finished with a car) since then I have tackled many projects with lights, tires, brakes, wiring, other addition items, and of course just keeping it running and working. This car has been a huge part of mine and my family’s life. It has taught me things I wouldn’t trade for the world, and has allowed me to spend time learning from my dad and grandfather.

The problem however is I will be off to college this coming year and will have to part from it for a period of time so I have begun looking for a new car. In the recent months I have come up with an idea. I purchase a new Camaro to follow my dad’s footsteps. Of course I am picky and am trying to come up with the most similar one to what we already have.
So what I am looking for is a 2014 Victory Red 2SS 1LE Camaro.
I feel like this would be the most similar even though they seem to be hard to come by.
So I am just asking if anyone knows of any for sale to please contact me. I have been working to purchase a car for a while now, and hope to learn a lot about finances in the following years when paying for the car.
I know it is a lot to ask for, but I am really trying to fulfill this dream. Thank you

Awesome Camaro, WOW!!! Youre lucky to have that kind of project with your family...

As for a 1LE I suggest you dont loose to much time..because theres not a lot sold per year and 15' is the last year. You can start to look around for 13-15'. Its a hell of a car for the money!! The handling is extremely great. Try to get one with the NPP option, a must IMO. I gave a 1SS and I love it. Its a bit lighter..

Awesome story and even better car! Try to find a 2013, rear end looks much better and 2013 will be the rarest of the Gen 5 1LE's.

OP Here is one.

Given that any 2014 Camaro is now 20% off at the dealers, you could theoretically find a new 1SS 1LE for right around $30K. Even though I have a 2SS 1LE I think a 1SS 1LE is more in the spirit of the 1LE-Z/28. Damn the comfort, let's track!

Right now I would not pay any more than $30K for a used 1LE as well. But you may have to back off on the color.

I love your project Camaro. Keep that car forever if you can. It will mean alot to you as you get older. I bullt a 351 Falcon as a teenager and I wish I could find it now. But even better your grandfather helped you, even cooler. I did mine completely on my own. With no one to guide me I made many mistakes. I am still making them.

Good luck in college. Be careful not acquire too much debt.

Here is a victory red one for sale. If you look on ebay or auto trader you can find a good deal if you are patient. I found mine only one year old last November with 8k miles and saved $14k off the sticker price. And 2013 was the only year for victory red in the 1LE. Making it even more rare. 2014 is red hot.

The previous poster is exactly correct about Victory Red only being offered on the 2013 1LE.

I loved the color so much, I got my 2014 Silverado in the same color.

Be patient and you will indeed find the deal that you want.

Thank you all so much!!
I know I must be patient to really get the one I want and have some time before I really need it. But for right now I really think I am looking for a Red Hot 2014 2ss 1le with the dual mode exhaust.
I have been constantly searching on eBay and autotrader. Does anyone have any other recommendations?
Also can you tell if the car has the dual mode exhaust by the quad tip?

Yes. Quad tips indicate Dual Mode exhaust, as long as it is stock. I agree going with the 2014. Redesign looks much tougher than the 2013 IMO. Also 2SS is a good choice for the extra creature comforts as a daily driver. Good Luck with your search.

Some people think the '13 front and rear look like garbage. Its fun to have an opinion....
