Water leak on back carpet

I bought a 2011 convertible soon after they came out and like many, had to have the top replaced for the wear/hole issue.

My second top has had no problems with the wear/rub marks or the 5th bow, but I have been fighting like crazy with trying to get the leak of water onto the back carpet fixed.

At first it was doing it on both sides, but after once in a dealer in VA they were able to fix that. After moving to TX, I have brought it in twice to the dealer in town, with no fix, and gone once to a dealer in a city nearby, and am still having water leak onto my back pass-side carpet every time there is a moderate to heavy rain.

It's clear these places do not have enough experience with the convertible tops to know how to fix these issues. Is there any way to get someone from Chevy corporate to show enough of an interest to contact the dealer that will be fixing them to give them some guidance on what to look for and how to fix it?

chances are that you are having problems with the water management bag and/or drain tubes. There is a newer design water bag that became available in 2012 ?? (can't remember the exact time frame)....

QuickSilver, our '11 did the same thing. On ours there's a metal seam in the quarter panel just behind the doors and the metal seam had come apart allowing water to get inside and pool in the right rear floor board. When I took it in, I thought the same thing as everyone else bout the water management bag and it wasn't, not saying yours isn't. The service writer told me they had several already for the same thing. From the work order, they removed the right inner panel beside the rear seat and resealed the seams with the same stuff they put around windshields and it solved it.

Red River Chevrolet, Bossier City, is the only dealer within 150 miles I'll take mine, they fixed that and replaced the 5th bow and tensioner cable, all on the 1st fix and did it right.

I mentioned the water bags several times when I brought it in, and I was assured that it did have the new version.

Jfoster, that sounds like good info, I'll print this page out and bring it in when I go. Anyone else have any ideas I can give them on what to look for?

To determine if you have the new water management bag, remove the side panels in the trunk. If you see tubes you have the new bag. If not, old bag.

Another thing that causes leaking is a blocked drain int he door. There is a TSB/Service bulletin on that the dealer can search for.

I had a RH lower door seal blow out on mine, could see the water trail on the plastic molding by the door. They replaced the seal and it's been fine ever since.

This is directly from the dealer invoice, " 13441 right rear 1/4 panel drain area leaking into the vehicle removed rear seat cushion and seat backrest removed right 1/4 trim panel performed water test found water coming in from the seams where 1/4 panel meets body removed right rear glass assembly and sealed all seams with windshield weld urethane also sealed over that with black seam sealer and the seams again with leak check let dry performed another water leak test found no more water to leaking in.

There's nothing on the write up on any service bulletins. If you need my invoice # for your dealer to look it up its #32004 through Red River Chevrolet, Bossier City, La. So far we haven't had any more water come inside. It was in the dealer for two days, which I was pleased with. Hope this helps you...

Thank-you all for the information.

The dealer never called me back and I contacted the national customer service line. Let me know if you want that information Marissa.

Typical of some GM dealers. We have one in Natchitoches that refuses to do warranty work if you didn't buy from them. In return I refuse to buy a vehicle from them.

Here is the link from GM's own Techlink site about the seal letting water in.
Print it out and take it with you. It's the 4th one down.
