Something to watch for when installing headers

If you will be installing headers on your Camaro, you may want to take an extra few minutes to tie back the starter cable to avoid contact with the headers. I installed mine about a month ago and this cable wasn't even close to them so I didn't worry about it. After awhile though it ended up wiggling its way over and got burned. OOPS!!

I always inspect the underside and engine bay of all my vehicles for possible issues like that and zip tie them away.

Good looking out man!

does anyone recommend using headder wrap or does the engine bay not get to hot from the headders?

Header wrap isn't as good as coating the pipes. The wrap over time can loosen and start to wear. There is a company called crucial racing in CA that I used to use for all of my pipes on my 2005 Legacy GT. They even heat coated the hot side of my 18g turbo upgrade after they ported and polished it. My headers and downpipe were all coated as well. They coat inside and outside the pipe. The hotter the air on a turbo application the better so they optimized keeping all heat in the pipe reducing the outside temps dramatically.

I would do that coating anyday over wrap. But both will still get too hot for plastic to touch it without melting

How long was the install. I called the dealer, and the quoted me 4 HOURS saying it was a difficult install ?!?! I saw another post that said under 2 hours in your own garage. Dealer wants $100 hr thats $400 install = too much $$ for me..

thoughts?

You might also want to check and make sure the A/C lines on the driver-side aren't touching the headers.
