Engine Misfires
Hey all!
So this question isn't specific to Camaros, but more a general warranty question. My wife's 2011 Equinox threw a check engine light, and she said it was idling rough, like the car was shaking. The car has 90k miles on it. So I took it in to the dealership, and they said that the codes being thrown indicated cylinder misfires, and that the car had some serious carbon buildup on the throttle body and valves. They also said the car needed to have the fuel injectors cleaned and was due for a tune up. I'm not really too much of a car guy, but does that sound like it could cause engine misfires? I could see maybe carbon buildup on the valves causing them to stick, or not close properly but I wanted to get some other perhaps more educated opinions as well. Anyway, the dealership said it would cost $1200 bucks...does any of that sound like it would be covered under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty? I didn't see treatments for carbon buildup listed in the manual as required maintenance, so I would think it shouldn't be serious enough to cause engine misfires at 90,000 miles. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

So they're saying it's an ignition problem, replacing an ignition coil and spark plugs, and that is not covered under warranty :(
