Weld or clamps?

I just ordered a MRTv2 axle back and a resonated x-pipe for my 2013 Vert V6 M6. Should I have the x pipe and axle back welded on or just clamped. I am ok with the idea of just clamping the axle back, but concerned about leakage from the x pipe since it is under the cabin of the car.

Opinions?

Weld them both, you will never have to worry about the clampscoming loose thisway. Along with the X pipe is 2.5 ooutlets at both ends, you exhaust is 2.5 at the front half but 2.25 at the back half. So welding is a better choice. The MRT's tend to loosen up when clamped. I have both of them welded on my set-up. Weld em and forget em. Other than the sweet sound will remind you they are there. Good Luck. and ENJOY.

You can clamp it now and weld it up later when you get tired of the leaks and mis-alignment, or weld it now and be done with it.

Interested in what the average rate is as well. My MRT V1s are clamped but I'd like to get em welded one day.

I used band clamps when I installed the exhaust on My truck because I had loaned My welder out. I always said if I had a problem I would weld them but that was 2 years ago and no issues yet.

Called around today. Huge variance in prices. One performance shop wanted $400. One exhaust only shop wanted $275, another wanted $180. A small mom & pop type shop that doesn't really do a lot of exhaust work quoted me $100. I am probably going to go with the $180, since they "know" exhaust and were a decent price.

The owner of the performance shop tried to discourage me from using the x pipe, saying it would like cause problems with my O2 sensors??

My husband's family is originally from Chalmette but relocated to Covington and Mandeville after Katrina. I am originally from the Lafayette area. We go down there a few times a year. Next time I am out that way, I would to attend a meet up if there are any going on.

Sounds cool by me. If you can click on the link in my signature. Like my Facebook page and that'll keep you posted on any meets in the area! Thanks!

Clamp first, drive a few weeks, if no leakage, tack weld to keep them in place. Cost me $20. If you have leakage, get a complete weld to seal them up.

This might be a dumb question but how can you tell if you have leakage?

Go to the hood. I paid $40 to have my MRT V2 axlebacks welded on.
