Magna Flow Resonated X-pipe

So I just put on my Stainless Works Headers and have no cats or resonators, just the "off-road" piping. I thought I would like the extra loudness, but it has WAY too much rasp at open throttle and just sounds super ricey. I am just wondering if getting the Magnaflow resonated x-pipe (part #11386) would be a good solution for this problem
http://www.phastekperformance.com/Ca...pipe-11386.htm

If so, has anyone done the install themselves? I have heard there are fitment problems with the part.

The Res-X is the go-to part for V6 rasp. Install is not tough if you can weld.

It's 2.5" on all 4 corners, so it will slip right over the cat back pipes in front of your H-pipe (you'll be replacing this with the Magnaflow). Past the 'H' stock pipes on the V6 drop to 2.25", so the fit won't be as ideal there.

Also the passenger side pipe at that location has a flat spot for clearance that can make sealing a little more difficult. This is just ahead of the stock resonators (that I see you've already removed), so if you're 2.5" all the way back, you are good to go!

Just an FYI- one of our IPF brethren reported "blowing out" his res-X with the S/C. This has not been an issue for me (or anyone else I'm aware of) in over 10Kmiles, but I'm sure you like to listen to the engine- not the radio, just like me!

For sure thsi is what you want to add. Many of us have to help control the RASP. I have some photos that I will upload laterr to show you. I have added them to many of the other threads asking this question, but it is not wanting to load right now.

Thanks for all the advice. I am worried about there being a problem with having a SC, but hopefully it all goes well. I have installed every mod myself so far, but have zero experience welding (or even have the tools for it) so I might have to take this to a shop. After this I have to inquire about adding cats (for emissions testing) that wont melt from the supercharger.

Expect to pay- thought I'd be good with my Solo HFC's (sounded great, no gas smell), but no joy. They melted down in 30miles!

I think I saw somewhere that BBK makes some cats that can withstand the SC heat

+1... I don't have LT's myself but I've been spending a LOT of time on these forums reading up on it and it seems everyone says it pretty much a must.

Not always a must on the V6s without LT headers (just depends on what you are going for...I am running one though) but if you have LT headers....you pretty much always want it unless you are running a full catback system that pairs well with headers (AKA....not raspy!)

Stock cats will hold up with a supercharger.
