Chrome or Black?
I have 22' Foose rims in chrome. I spend hrs cleaning these rims. Im wanting fellow members input on going black. I have 15% tint, all markers black along with black tail lights. I love the look of chrome but hate the time it takes to clean.

Chrome is a b@%&* to keep clean. Now when you say going to black rims are you talking about trading those rims or painting them black? I think Chip Foose would personally come and slap you if you paint over those rims.
Personally I don't care for black rims on a white car either. I think it works on some cars like the Z/28 with a lot of black trim and some cars with black stripes. I don't think black wheels work on a totally white car like yours. |

I generally almost always lean toward black, but in this case, I think I would keep em chrome. I like those wheels on that car.

I always wanted black rims, and its one of the features that helped me find the 1LE package, which I love (for performance reasons). That being said, black rims are like a black car. I can almost promise you will spend much more time keeping black wheels clean than you do on the chrome ones. Part of the problem is the style of the 1LE / ZL1 wheel, but the majority of the problem is the color. Then, on top of the time to clean them, they look dirty as soon as they get the slightest bit dusty, just like a black car. The choice is yours, but think it through!

Those are some damn sexy wheels.
I'd get in line behind Chip to slap you in the face if you painted over them! :P If you want to go black AND go back, just get a new set of wheels. |

Here's my take.
Looks great as it is now. But, if I were making the choice, and decided to go black, I'd also do a few other things while I'm at it- paint your body kit and spoiler black. The contrast would look awesome. Vinyl? Maybe some hockey stripes or, to be more subtle, some hash stripes, but don't know that either would be necessary - less is more! Either way, I echo the "don't paint them" thoughts - slap some plastidip on there to see if you like it, and then if you do - peel it off, sell the chrome, and order black. Or don't...they're your wheels!! edit*** I think it would look a bit like this, and I think this car looks awesome: THIS thread |

I like chrome, do you still have GM brake pads, that is your first change out and see if it gets better if you haven't done so already and if you do go black I would suggest some awesome black body kits also. Good luck and look around to see what you like !

First off, great looking camaro
Now, I love the white/black contrast on cars. And you could definitely pull it off. First you will need to know what type of black finish you want to go with on the rims (satin, matte, gloss or even black chrome ). Have you considered black chrome? That would give you the best of both worlds. Anywho, once you figure out the finish then you can go about adding accents of black to your babe.

if you think black rims are easier to care for, you are dead wrong. Still takes the same amount of time to clean. Think water spots, and everything shows on black, the slightest layer of dust can easily be seen on black rims.

First, get someone to photoshop your car and do those lower body kit pieces in black, see how that looks. Then have them do the same with your wheels. I really don't like black wheels unless the car is black, but maybe with the body kit being black it will work for you.
Besides, it's your car, your money, YOU have to be happy, not us!

I agree with most, keep the chrome. If you go black, you'll lose the rims completely with all that white. One of the only thing that pops off white is chrome and those wheels are killer. As is, man.
