GM Certified question
I searched for any posts about it but I didn't see any . I know a GM certified vehicle comes with 12 month 12k miles bumper to bumper warranty from date of purchase . It also come with a 5 year 100k mill warranty but I wanted clarification that its added on top of the miles that's already on the car. So if I buy a 2010 with 45k miles the powertrain warranty now it wouldn't run out until 2020 or 145k miles right?

Powertrain warranty begins at the vehicle's in-service date (of original owner) and runs for 5 years or 100k, but doesn't get reset upon a change in ownership. It's transferable, but the milestones remain the same.
Depending on when your 2010 was originally purchased, it may be out of warranty already.

The powertrain warranty isn't changed whether a vehicle is CPO or not. Being certified gets some additional perks, but doesn't add life to any existing warranty.

Isn't this a better question for your salesperson?
Anyway, when I bought mine it was CPO with 30k and 2 years left of powertrain warranty. An optional extra was to buy a warranty that would get me 5 years from MY purchase date, or 100k minus whatever was already on the clock. So essentially the time is extended but the mileage is not. |
