Slotted and Drilled Rotors THAT much better than OEM?
Besides the look and some help with brake dust, how much of an upgrade are slotted and drilled rotors from say R1 or similar?

They're for looks mostly. The brake experts here say the pad composition we have available today don't produce the gasses the holes and slots were designed to dissipate. But some say the slots may have a beneficial wiping effect that can clean the brake pad. On the other hand, unless you spend a lot of money, the drilled holes can lead to the rotor cracking. I have Granitelli dimpled and slotted rotors. The dimples look like holes, but they don't go all the way through the rotors.
I have Hawk ceramic pads and don't drive my car hard so I don't need maximum braking performance. Keeping my wheels clean is more important to me (for now).

Unless you are spending a lot of money and are on the track you are not going to see any performance benefit. It is just a cosmetic upgrade. If you want to improve braking performance on the street then you should look at pads and stainless brake lines.

Mine are really only for looks. Theres a few out there that do make a difference, but with regular driving they wont improve much, and their prices were much more than I wanted to spend.

Thanks guys! That's what I thought.
I have stainless brake lines now ready to be installed was why I am asking. Not with $600 to me right now for cosmetic upgrade. Maybe someday though. Thanks everyone!

If you were Racing in the Rain, they work, but otherwise you will never realize their potential, so for most people they are mostly for looks. A lot of cracking on Drilled Rotors - I won't run them.

Thanks! I think that answers that. I'll just stick with stock for now..

OEM rotors are better than most of the aftermarket. Unless you're willing to pay for a high quality setup, just stick with OEM.

Stick with OEM Brembo's rotors....almost 100% better than anything else aftermarket out there.
Unless you want the look of slotted or drilled.

What slotted rotors would be "on par" with the OEM? What about the Brembo Sport rotors? Stoptech?
