Brake burnishing?
I am going out Sun AM super early to burnish my pads. This will be the 3rd set i have burnished, i follow the owners manual to a tee, but have never smelt them or even had pedal or fade issues, why would this be? Obviously im doing something wrong, but like i say im following the manual.
Question #2 I now have the Quantum brake cooling setup on my car, the fact that i have brake cooling will this affect my pads and what im doing in anyway?

I have the stock pads. From what i have read people can smell their brakes, and i haven't, as well i have never felt the pedal travel more like the manual say's it will. I am in the IE, im going to run down I-15 Sun. I figure since it's Easter the roads might be a little lighter.

I just do mine on a back 2 lane road when there's no traffic around.
I did experience some green fade with my stop techs, but not with my Hawk HP+'s.

I am going to track my car this weekend for the first time - NOOB
Is this something I DEFINITELY need to do? I have read it in the manual as well, seems pretty intense on the brakes etc... Thanks for the advise! |

You really only need to burnish brakes after you swap them out. If you swap them out, then YES, I would absolutely do this. It also ensures they're bedded properly.
If you're going to track your car, then you are going to be getting MUCH more intense on the brakes than anything you can do on the street. Trust me, your 1LE can handle it, Buffman. I was braking from 132+mph at VIR down to 50 or so mph this weekend at VIR multiple times along the front stretch, everytime just shy of activating ABS. If you're worried about getting on your brakes hard, then you've got another thing coming this weekend Hopefully, you have an instructor riding along with you who will get you to push the car a bit and get you used to driving it a bit harder. I think you'll be surprised how much the car can actually handle. You should have a blast.
