Trans fluid switched/changed using Royal Purple MTF - Shifting much smoother....

So I really wanted to just tackle the trans but went and did dif, brake fluid, motor oil too. Mind you my trans fluid has atleast 65k miles on it.

My tranny has started to feel notchier and noticher so I was worried, read about redline and how it helped smooth things out again,

So I ended up just jacking the front of the car up really high drained the fluid out (made a mess that stuff comes out fast!). got some 7/16th tube and a funnel and filled her up it took about 3.8qts give or take I did spill a bit so not sure exactly.

WOW, Royal purple MTF worked wonders for me!!! It felt nice and smooth again, its still notchy but way better feeling like it supposed too not like something is degrading anymore!!!

I can tell the difference night and day!!!! Im very happy with my shifts again finally!!!

Yep, makes you feel good when you do maintenance on your car like this. Before your car turns 5 years old do a complete coolant flush. I'm so particular with my vehicles that I will suck out power steering fluid with a turkey baster and refill with fresh new fluid about every 5 years.

Was prepared to give you some bad news but saw this on RP website.

Synchromax is recommended for manual transmissions
that specify an automatic transmission fluid or motor oil.

So I will be curious to see what happens in a few months since I noticed you put a lot of miles on the vehicle. In other words, you'll be our guinea pig.

This is the recommended Oil spec by RP for a tremec 6060.

First drive was amazing!!! smooth as butter.

1000 miles later... still smoother but not anything to gawk about and nothing like it was on that first drive. Still Stiff between 1-2 notchy when cold otherwise smooth but that's just how these trannies are no oil out there will fix it. These transmissions are great you probably don't need a oil change but it should really be done to help the cars go longer.

revived,

Any issues thus so far? I take it as no. I have the same RP oil as you do for the MT change; thus, I have not changed it quite yet I 75k on my drive train. I consider this a well earned treatment for my ride.

I just switched to Syncromax yesterday. 200% better than the mobil1 syn that I had been using. Especially no grind when cold going to third that always plagued me until I drove a few miles.

if you want to knock out more of that notchiness, get the separate clutch fluid reservoir kit from gen5diy, and swap the fluid in the reservoir daily for a week. night and day on my car, also running redline's D4 ATF

Yup...changed mine yesterday. Had it in for about 30 mins normal driving and then got in a situation pulling onto the freeway where a 2015 challenger was coming fast on my butt...both our faults he was going at least 20 over the speed limit and I judged it wrong when making a right turn to on ramp. Rowing gears hard...all I can say is wow. Smoother shifting!
