New Camaro question

Hey guys, dealer sprung all these extra "options" at me when talking final #'s... before I pick up my car on the weekend.

Paint sealant to protect the paint and not need to "wax" or whatever.. protect the color.. for like 5 years or something.

Undercoating for the bottom of the car.. to help against corrossion and road noise.

and.. some kinda leather treatment for the interior...with extra warranty for like burning or damage to the leather or whatever.... I forget what else... all of that stuff though...

What's the scoop on this ?? Any of it necassary, or actually worth paying for?

I think most people on here will tell you that stuff is all unnecessary and just a way for the dealer to get more money from you. You could get the same stuff done a lot cheaper at a shop that specializes in that type of stuff.

Leather treatment is scotch guard which is something you can do yourself for less. Undercoating? That just sounds like something for them to claim to do just to add extra charges and the paint sealant is bs too. If they try to push these extra charges on you tell them no way. It's ridiculous what some dealers try to get away with.

Check out this thread.

You don't need any of it. Its all BS to line the dealers pockets. If the dealer did all this to your car your being snookered. If they have not done it yet, tell them no thanks. Your dealer sounds like a good one to stay away from.

I think that depends on the individual. Some would say yes others no. I went with it myself right or wrong but I felt that it was the way to go considering all of the computers in this car. I figured that crap would get expensive if it malfunctions after the base warranty ran out. Good luck on getting your car. Hope it goes well for you.

My dealer and finanace manager were really great about this. I told them up front that I didn't want anything added to the car. They listened. They had to review the extras like the extended warranty, but the finance manager said "I assume you don't want any of this stuff, correct?" I said yes and he Xed it out and told me what I owed. It was maybe the best car-buying experience I have ever had.

yeah he wasn't too pushy , seemed more non chalant about it just saying it because he probably has to atleast mention it as a job duty. Pretty sure he was even reading it from a script...

said whatever I decide is up to me but otherwise the car will be ready pretty much as soon as they open that day.

He also looked into and honored the GM family discount for me, 1,000 off

Hope I don't stall on the lot... =P haven't driven much standard.

Cool. I have to tell you, I have driven a lot of manuals, but this one was a little different for me. Do yourself a favor and sit in the car and mess with the clutch for a little bit before you pull away. And even if you stall, no one is going to say anything.

I was able to redeem all my GM cards earnings, so
I did the same. To have the extended warranty made
me feel better.
