Transmission stuck @ 5500RPM
So... here's the background...
2SS L99 (Auto) Was doing around 70MPH, and some guy was being a complete ass in front of me. So, I passed him on the left, slamming the accelerator down to pass him. The transmission downshifted to accelerate and hit around 5500 RPMS. Once I passed the fellow, I took my foot complete off the gas to slow down from around 85-90MPH. The car quit accelerating, but the RPM's stayed spiked at 5000+. I just heard the engine stuck in a high rev mode, even though I wasn't giving it any gas. So, I kept tapping the accelerator until it finally started to down shift in to the appropriate gears for each speed/RPM level. Please tell me this is not normal......? ![]() I'm leaving for a road trip in our SUV tomorrow down to Myrtle Beach... and I don't want this hanging over my head for the next week :(

Not normal at all. I would have it checked out by the dealer immediately. YOu said you passed on the left so, I am curious, you didn't happen to accidentally hit the cruise control button with your left hand when you turned the steering wheel that way, did you? That could be it.

Maybe you bumped a Tapshift button, putting it in manual?

Have you been able to duplicate the issue again? Did you inspect the gas pedal area to make sure the pedal is not catching on anything when it is floored? You don't want the throttle to get stuck ever, that is a pretty dangerous thing. I am not sure if the Camaro throttle is fly by wire or the old tech link/cable system. If fly by wire, nothing you can do but take it to dealer. If link/cable system, you can spray some lube on the linkages while you move the pedal.
