Handling-optimized Camaro SS

On page 17 of the October 2009 Motor Trend magazine I found this quote. "The supercharged Z/28 Camaro is on hold, but we hear Ford's Mustang Track Pack has come to the attention of GM development engineers. Dont' be surprised if a handling-optimized Camaro SS appears in the lineup in the not too distant future.."

Motortrend magazine is not worth wiping up cat poop with.. it would make the mess worse.

Don't believe anything you read in that trash rag.

MT would have you buying a Porshe instead of american anything.

I don't think it is a stretch to believe they would be working on this considering all the hype around the Mustang track pack.

I think it's quite a possibility. Bilstein shocks, 275's all around, 1" drop, stiffer sway bars, and call it the Z/28 package. I'd buy it

I seem to remember that pedders was working on something with GM at the proving grounds a while back. I wonder if this is what it was.

Posted from my iPhone so please forgive typos:
I find the allegations of bias of motortrend funny as it is far more pro gm than most. It's review of the camaro was very positive. As far as credibility, I'm sure it was based on rumor so take it with a grain of salt. But with the 2011 mustang coming, I wouldn't be suprised.

Yes, I meant my comments to be funny about Motortrend. I was upset when I read their view of "drivers cars" and the ZR-1 vette is sixth and the camaro is last.. Of course a Porshe is first. I don't want to take away from the OP's thread, so I won't bash MT any more here.

GM does need to step up to the plate and make a super handling option for the Camaro. It would be GREAT if pedders was that option, but I believe GM would not outsource the parts. More likely they would hire Pedders as a consultant and design their own solution.

It would be great if that happens. Hopefully for all that already bought the vehicle, they don't drastically alter the design so we can't retrofit our vehicles with the same parts.

Actually a blower setup is actually very efficient and fuel economy does not go to crap until the loud pedal is to the floor.

And yes, Pedders works with the great team at Milford.

The Camaro SS demolishes the current Mustang GT's performance results on a track. The track pack doesn't compensate for the live axle. If GMPP wants to release additional suspension components for the Camaro, that would be great, but let's not confuse competitors with equals.
