Crystal red tint coat question

I have a new zl1 I purchased a month ago. I have been clay barring rail dust off the paint and been following up with mequiars 205 polish and a white pad to remove minor marring.I am noticing a light pink color on pad.Is this normal ?is this from the tint in the clear coat ?Any help would be great.

Thanks

I've never polished any tintcoat before, but if I saw red on the buffing pad I would be scared.

My 2014 was COVERED in rail dust as well..

I was just doing some light polishing from clar bar. kinda of figured it was from the tint cost but wanted to be positive. It is a little scarey seeing that on the pad.

White pad, what brand?
Which brand and model of machine are you using?
What speed?
What other products do you have laying around in the garage to polish/wax your baby?

After you get it just right make sure you install the XPel clear bra on all the danger areas. You will be so happy you got it done, that way you hopefully will not get a chip before you get it done, you will hate yourself if you do! Take care.

Bill

If you have any further questions I can help you with just shoot me a PM.

Something has to go on after the 205..
Try colinite 845..

5 is pretty fast, not needed 3 or 4 would be perfect.

Like someone said, get the front end and gills done with xpel or suntek clear bra.

I'm on my second 5th gen and the paint horrible!!

Something I learned in 2010 and holds true today with my 2013, you WILL get water spots no matter what wax/sealant you use. If you have spots that don't come off with 105 or 205 they are etched and learn to live with them, they are there for good.
