NA build...should I wait on 2" TSP headers?

OK, on my L99 I am planning a hefty NA build (like a stage 3+ in forum terms) including Dod Delete with a "while I'm at it" VVT cam swap. I have been holding off on headers and tune since this is a perfect big bang install case of saving steps.

I also have been informed that TSP is 4-5 weeks out on having 2" headers in stock, but the 1 7/8" are available. Price performers so TSP was my choice.

I have not ordered anything, but do not anticipate BTR or ADM to have inventory troubles on the other items I need.

Would you wait for the 2's because...reasons, or just get 'er done with 1 7/8" pieces? No immediately identifiable future plans after these mods.

Just $. Nothing wrong with them. Just taking a poll of opinions regarding patience, worth the wait, etc.

Depends on cam size and head setup. You'll see a little more power regardless with 2", but I'm doing just fine on 1 7/8".

TSP has corrected their quality/fitment issues with their 2 inch headers ,they are now good to go and a hell of a good deal .

Not sure what you'll gain with 2", I'm keeping the 1 7/8" Tri-Ys on my build.

Awesome. First three poll choices have equal votes.

It is pointless to go with a 2" header on a NA build IMHO. If you're on a budget get the Stainless Power 1-7/8" LT's and call it a day. Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the input Jordan, but if I was on a budget why would I pay $200 more for a set than those I listed? Hashed and rehashed, but SPs don't carry any different positives than TSP, right? Online price is all I can go by...price matching only helps those buying a brand.

Dunno, the way I see it is, they're priced the same and there's a potential that you'll have a few more ponies up top so, why not just wait it out and get what you want? I'm a big fan of doing things once and not having to (or feeling I should) redo modifications.

I have the SW 1 7/8 on my car and am happy with them. If you plan on going crazy on heads, stroker, FI ,than go a 2 inch . On just a cam and bolt on car the 1 7/8 headers will be good to go.

Yep, so thankful for your responses. I am actually happy to see the opinions exactly matching my conundrum. My problem is the "never say never". I live in Ky...less than 1 hr from Brian Tooley's shop and with ShorTuning, top notch LS tuner, only 10 min. from my house. Maybe thinking about it that way pushes me in a direction. WWYD, what would you do?
