Visteon will be making the amp that powers up those Boston Acoustic speakers as said in the article. I went to their site and found this

I remember when GM stereos were all Delco amps and stereos that powered o.k. base speakers or Bose speakers and now we are bringing in Visteon which is a Ford spin-off.

Until Ford spun off Visteon as a separate, barely financially viable company a few years ago, it was pretty much the exclusive supplier of in-vehicle entertainment systems for Ford cars and trucks. More recently, most Fords have had a common Delphi-manufactured head unit installed from the factory. Now comes word that Ford has signed a deal with Sony to offer the latter’s audio systems.

The first vehicle to be equipped with a Sony branded stereo system will be unveiled next week at the New York Auto Show. Since the Ford Flex (the production version of the Fairlane concept) will be shown there, it will likely be the first Sony-equipped Ford. This isn’t the first Sony offering for Ford, with limited edition Focus models having been available previously and several European models including the Mondeo, C-Max and others offering Sony equipment currently.

I wish we had an option for a system for the Camaro like the ones they offer in Audi vehicles or BMW vehicles.

It sound to me like the classic rock I love will sound pretty fricking good in my new 2010 Camaro SS2/RS. Since I am old school I don't really get too wrapped up in who makes the speakers and who makes the amplifier.

I'm really new to this website, Just picked up my special order Velvet Blue ZL1 , stated on GM website that it comes with Boston Acoustic 9 speaker system including 10" sub. Believe me, I didn't buy it for the stereo, but I can't seem to locate the sub ?? Was it supposed to be a dealer install that they skipped or what ? Please help, very frustrated !!! THANKS !!!

If it's a vert its behind the back seat. if you got one of the mtx subs I think they put them in the trunk just inside the right panel. I think you should be able to see it. Don't quote me b/c I don't know for sure. I usually snatch my factory audio equipment out...the camaro (sadly) was no different.

First, welcome to C5!

There is no sub in the coupe available from GM, would have been a dealer install. I would first contact your salesperson and offer them the opportunity to install an aftermarket sub as agreed to. Then the Sales manager, then the general manager, then write a letter to the store owner of the franchise. Once you write the store owner, CC both General Motors and your State's Department of Commerce. If you can prove the dealer failed to deliver contractually and you still have no resolution, you have some pretty good remedy options available.

A sub would be "10" speakers. So there is a miscommunication somewhere.
