Dealership dilema

Wifes 14 Cruze has had this "squeaking" sound when the AC is on. Finally took to the dealership service, and it only made the the sound when the AC was on, and in gear. yea, I know, sounds weird. I assume its something to do with the AC, but was diagnosed as a waterpump malfunction. OK. They replace it, under warranty, and off we go.

I was in the garage last night when wife starts backing in. Guess what? same sound, still there.... Yay! Call the dealership again, taking it back in on Wednesday.

Reason for this post - My 12 Camaro makes the same sound, only on occasion, so I wonder if the same thing is wrong, oh, and that I "totally" trust the dealerships - NOT!!! haha

not sure one the cruz but our A/C's and Heaters make those noises in the camaro from the blower motor. It's actually a minor issue radio solves it and it won't really hurt anything.

I also have a 14 Cruze, and it sounds like air leaks from the driver side rear window, and when the brake pedal is pushed there is a very strange sound. It almost sounds as if air bubbling out, but the brakes still stop. I took it to the dealer, and they couldn't hear the air leak in the window....it is very obvious, and the brakes are "normal". They said that the power booster is making the noise, when it is clearly coming from the wheel area. I wish there was a decent Chevy dealership near me...

If the noise is under the hood, as in NOT related to the fan/ductwork, is probably the compressor. Granted, it CAN be hard sometimes to isolate a noise in that area- but they should be able to figure it out.

My Camaro does the same thing... have had the blower motor replaced and it changes nothing. Only does it when it's cold outside.

Have them check the crank seal.

Hi Travis104,

I am sorry to learn about your sound concerns in your Cruze. Did you go for a ride with your service tech? No one knows your car better than you and it gives you the opportunity to point out your exact concerns.

I would be happy to look into this further. Please feel free to send us a private message along with your VIN, current mileage, full contact information and involved dealer.

All the best,

Kaylee D.

Thanks, Kaylee - dealership is taking it in again to see if they can find out the problem. They are very attentive where we bought the Cruze, have issues with where I bought the Camaro though.....

Everyone makes mistakes- it's how they are handled that makes the difference. Even the best techs in the industry have misdiagnosed before.
