Probably just paranoia.

I just picked up my 2LT last week, car JUST hit 100 miles. I can't help but notice an engine knock. I'm assuming it's because the engine is brand new and it hasn't really figured out the correct fuel/air ratio yet, but I don't really know. It kind of sounds like a valve tap, but it's intermittent, most noticeable at idle.

Any opinions?

Some say the high pressure direct fuel injectors make a little noise, but I haven't noticed it. Definitely no "knock". I agree with others, let dealership check it out.

I have a 2LT with around 9,000 miles.....never heard any knocking, even when it was new. Get it checked out.

I think I know what you're reffering to. At idle, I can hear the slightest "ping" noise, but I think its just the nature of DI.

Drive by the dealer and ask to listen to another V6 and see if it makes the same noise.

Yeah, this is pretty accurate. It's more of a ping noise. When I go to the dealer for the first service I'll have to ask them about it. They may have even put regular gas in it when they did the initial fill up. I haven't had to gas the car yet so maybe it'll stop when I toss some 93 in 'er.

You have a V6....You should be running REGULAR gas in it, there's no advantage to using premium, other than spending more of your hard earned cash for fuel.

Oh? I heard that regular gas could still cause a slight tap in the engine. Though I can't say first hand because I'm still on the first tank.

I noticed that with my car as well, only if the radio is off as it is hard to hear. The direct injection is noisy and I heard that it will only get noisier as well, as the car ages.

Are you using premium gas? The owner's manual says if you do not, the engine will knock.
