Catch Can + Valve Cleaning Can...

Ok this is a little off, but I was wondering... I have a catch can and it does a great job of catching oil, installed it at 7k, wished I did it sooner.
If a product like a catch can can clean the air going into the intake void of any sensors, why cant their be a similar recirculating product after the catch can that holds a cleaning agent that slowly pulls air in mixed with something that keeps the valves clean? Maybe even incorporate it as a second stage in your Catch can? A "Seafoam" Can?

It would make more sense to have a second set of injectors installed in the intake tracks ahead of the valves that sprays a small amount of fuel . This would help wash the valve stems . At the same time cut back slightly on the amount of fuel used in the Direct injection to equal the full charge .

I would expect engine Engineers have tried this and something didn't work I guess just seems so simple as a solution .

Do you have a V8 or V6? If V8, the port injectors constantly shower your valves and keeps them clean even to 200 k plus miles. If a DI engine, then you do need to stop it.Adding piggy back port injectors will cause detonation with the 11.5:1 CR as fuel is then present during the entire intake and compression stroke and that is where detonation occurs. DI that fuel is only present for milliseconds as it is not until the final 10% or so of the compression stroke before the fuel is introduced, so it is already nearly complete through the burn before it can even make contact with the piston top (the reason these engine can run 11.3-11.5 CR on 87 octane).

As far as the seafoam idea, you would have to have to constantly be refilling. Not good as these solvents are not good to use other than sporadically. Same with adding meth injection. It can help reduce build-up. but you would also have to spray all the time to accomplish what a good truly effective catchan system would do, and with the thread on catchcan R&D going on, it is an eye opener on how poorly most cans actually function.

for the valve cleaning, I just did my second treatment on sat... but I use the CRC Direct injection intake valve cleaner.

simple and easy to use. remove the hose going into the intake manifold and spray directly into the hard tube that clips to the top of the intake manifiold.

spray the can in 30 sec intervals till all gone while you have someone hold the rpms at 2,000. rev up to 3500, let it idle a minute or less and shut off. let it sit an hour...

start it up and hit some highway speeds for 10min...clean.


I do it every 2nd oil change, so about 26,000 miles (last oil change with analysis was 13,500 miles). checked inside with a snapon cam internally, and my last oil analysis turned out great.

something to look at if your worried about valve cleaning.

I just used this stuff a month ago for the first time. Hopefully it helped.

Great info guys! I use the CRC MAF cleaner on my cars and didn't know they made a cleaner for valves. I will definitely try this.
