Racing Brake Carbon Ceramic brake kit
I was going to try and adapt a Z/28 CCR brake kit to my car. That would be all wrong since the calipers wouldn't match the car's designation. I found out that Racing Brake is starting to produce kits with CC rotors and pads! I visited the shop today and looked at what was available. They now have a kit for the Nissan GTR! Looked around and found the parts needed, spent time to spec out everything and once it's assembled together there will be one for the ZL1. I will warn you now not cheap by any means. Larger rotors for the front. Looks like it will need 20" wheels to clear. Pictures to follow once assembled.

Here's the picture of the prototype kit for the Nissan GTR. The set that are being made for the ZL1 will look similar but without yellow calipers, and with a black hat instead of blue which is their standard order over the carbon disc. The calipers are red and forged aluminium. I believe the specifications are 395x36mm front carbon rotors and 390x32mm rear carbon rotors. Below is the Z/28 rotor and caliper. They will be similar to the look of the Z/28 rotor but without the Z/28 marking and won't be a Brembo sourced caliper since they have their own made by their own manufacturer.

I imagine this'll be the setup to have once they come out with it. Looking at their website, the prices aren't bad for what you're getting, either.

Firefighter,Redlineviper,
That was the first question out of my mouth yesterday at the factory before they showed me the parts! Guess what the answer was?

Yeah, I can imagine. Some of us don't think we need new calipers when we have Brembos already.

I'd go CF rotors & the correct pads, but never a total upgrade for my ZL1 because I don't track enough. If the CF rotor/pad combo comes out for the OEM brake system, well I'm buying it that day.

Sakudog,
I heard that, I wish there was an OEM kit available! I got tired of waiting for one so decided to ask for help. I received a call on Friday informing me that the front rotors will be slightly larger than originally stated in the above post. I think he said 394! I will know more next week. This should help with the ZL1's weight disadvantage on heavy braking into turns. I am expecting being able to use late breaking with more confidence. |

They really need to make the rotors where you can run the 19" rims. There is not a good 20" tire available that compares to the Hoosier R6 in 19". I'm getting my racing brake iron rotors so hot I'm warping them with stock calipers and racing pads....
