Mod's and 91 Octane

Title says it all.

Looking to start work on my car since this stock business with a rotofab isn't cutting it anymore. I'm limited to 91 on an M6 car but want to squeeze out as much power as I can and keep it reliable for the street. Pulleys, headers, injectors, heat exchanger, possibly a cam, and a tune. Maybe even a tune for race gas? I guess my biggest question is about adding a cam because I want to make no less than 650 at the wheels. What will a cam do for me power wise???

Thanks everyone!

A good cam could pick you up 70-80 more horsepower. Skip the baby cams and look at something in the high 220's to mid 230's intake duration and "0" overlap.

Thanks for the reply. Not overly familiar with cams so I'd be curious to know how rough the idle would be with cam like that. Anything out of the ordinary aside from lower mpg?

You think it's safe to assume I would be over the 650rwhp hump on 91? Or possibly higher?? Thanks again.

It would be a very smooth idle with a slight lope. If you start getting into the cams with 8-16 degrees of overlap they start getting very rough and takes some feathering of the throttle to drive. The BTR stg 3 is very easy to tune and has a pretty smooth idle even though it is 231 deg intake duration. Because it is "0" overlap. That's the nice thing about blower cams. You can get a lot of power without the rough idle and drivability problems that you get with big NA cams.

Ahhhhh, got it. Thanks again for the insight. Hoping I'll pleased with the bump in power. For a little while at least.
