L99 idle

Why do the L99 cars sound so funny at idle ? kinda ticky clacky sounding ?

Not sure it could be bad lifters as the early models like yours had some issues with them I know. But I also think these engines tend to tick a little by nature...

My 2011 L99 used to tick at idle and be even louder at start up. Took it in for the lifter tick TSB last year and its been quiet since.

I only have 940 miles on mine , you wouldn't think a lifter would be bad already ? did they replace anything when you took it in for the TSB

Im curious about this too, I bought the car 2 weeks ago with 38k on the odo. Its a 2010, my wife started it up today to go to work and i noticed a loud tick coming from it and i was standing a good 20 feet from the car. Made me question if i should take it to the dealer.

It's these stupid lifters... mines a 2011, I doubt the service bulletin applies to me anymore since I no longer have warranty because I'm modded and tuned.

I've been looking into LS3 conversion for a cam later in the future, just for peace of mind.

My early build 2010 L99 SS engine has never made a sound after 6 years.
I've done 9 oil changes since new and think that may be the reason.
I suggest changing the oil at least once a year especially if you have
extremely low mileage.

Mine ticked, I think it's just the nature of the beast. A number of 2010s are being modded.

It's normal, sometimes happens at start up.

I was adding Lucas stabilizer and it would make it quieter, then switched to Pennzoil ultra platinum without and it quieted mine, your results may vary.

I have been using Pennzoil Synthetic Blend 5W-30 from the start (22K miles now) and have never had any "ticking" issues. I think some cars tick and some don't. If it's a really loud tick, have it checked at your Chevy dealer.

These motors are not quite....your injectors are very noisy as well. That's what most people are hearing except for those that have or had lifter problems.
