Differential
So I swapped out the diffferential fluid and both of the bolts had some strange (to me at least) gunk on them. I didn't know what it was for, so I left it on there. Does anyone know what this is for? Should I have gotten rid of it? Also, when I added the LSD additive and refilled the rear differential fluid, it started dripping out (meaning it was full) with about 2 oz left in the bottle. If I had raised the rear end, would it have made much of a difference for accepting more fluid? Should I delve deeper into why it didn't accept a full 32 oz plus 2.5 oz of LSD additive?

Just a question- why are you changing the differential fluid already?
What kind of gunk was on the bolts, what is metal or debris from the differential or some type of anti-sieze? |

new gears are going to have some break in metal shavings on the magnet if it has one on the drain plug bolt.

The reason behind changing it out was because I plan on taking it to the strip, and maybe some road courses. The manual recommends changing out the fluid if you plan on doing that. I didn't think it was anti-seize because it was on the tip, not the sides (though maybe it's extra for the next time you change it?). I'm wondering if it was some sort of goop to collect up all the little metal shavings. Now I'm thinking I should have cleaned it all off...

it was metal, the drain and fill plug both have magnets in the ends of them
