Quick Question about Cam specs

So if I remember correctly my cam specs are as follows: 234/244 .598/.610. Yesterday I had someone come in and talk to me about my cam, he told me he was looking into a 600 lift cam. My question is when someone only gives one number when it comes to lift specs which number is it? Exhaust or intake?

I don't think there is a commonly accepted interpretation for "600 lift cam"

IMO your cam would fall into that group even though the intake is only .598

There are lots of guys out there who worry more about a number than performance as evidenced by high hp builds running 12s.

I see, this actually isn't the first time i have come across this scenario. Always wondered why said person would only give a single number when talking about lift when there was two. Wasn't sure if i was missing something

Your cam is a dual pattern cam. Different profile on the intake and exhaust lobes. Most cams are single spec for both.
BTW, are you running forced induction or nitrous? That is what cams with a larger exhaust profile are generally used for.

I always liked to hear what the LSA on a cam was as well.

Actually a 6oo lift cam is the range he is thinking but with different variables that matter a lot and more duration on the exhaust is also good for a ls3 as the exhaust can use the help according to experts and the head design and valve size. And also the LSA is a real critical detail along with the centerline.....

If someone is buying a cam from a single number let me know so I can sell him some of my magic beans.
