question regarding 2 step

posting on behalf of a friend who is not on the forum. my friend has a supercharged and cammed 2011 SS. he wants to get a 2 step device. He does not drag his car or anything like that, but just to have because it sounds cool and to do an occasional launch. I'm asking for you guys to provide me with some link to exactly what he will need. For example, could i just buy the MSD 2 step module off phastek and be done with it? or are there other components needed for the install. links please thanks!

Don't use the msd. You have to wire in a clutch position switch.

Does not matter which one you use..........you still need a clutch position switch.

Incorrect. One such as n2mb WOT Box does not. Parameter set ups is via Windows GUI, not analog dialing in.

I guess to clarify, yes, the clutch position (signal) is necessary. Our Camaros provide that information via a position voltage output, which can be tapped in anywhere between the clutch and E38.

question regarding 2 step

With the msd box you have to wire one in in dependably where thenlingfelter you can get a module to plug and play with the factory 3 wire one. Which is the ctap merc posted. So technically you don't need to install a clutch position switch with the lingenfelter one as it uses the stock one. Much easier and cleaner then wiring in a ropey homemade clutch switch.

The MSD and Lingenfelter box both work and wire the same way. Trust me I have a MSD box on the shelf cause it was defective and set up a misfire and slowed Pumpkin down. The CTAP is totally plug and play and totally adjustable. Work mint 1.64 sixties 3800 lb Bolt On car.

But with just the msd box you can't get clutch position signal correct?

You can with the CTAP I've done it. Like I said the MSD box I had was f@@cked and it caused a missfire. That's why it is sitting on the self.

I run the LNC-003 on my car with the Th400, that Lingenfelter piece is is a thing of beauty. Simple to install and works flawlessly.

Glad I don't have the M6, I remember Merc whining about needing to be a contortionist to wire up the clutch position sensor...lol

The only pain is disconnecting the the clutch switch so you can put the CTAP in line. I can't begin to tell you how much of a pain it is working blind and by feel only. Try disconnecting a similar plug you can see first and give your self half a chance and remove the drivers seat for access.
