New Camaro owner, send help
I have a 2010 Camaro SS LS3 with an Auto shift.
Pictured are some of the mods I want to put in the thing. First high performance car I've had. What do I do? |

Anything done to the motor? Asking if it's the L99 and not LS3. If it's an L99 you're going to want to add to this list.

What is your ultimate goal for the car? For example, that cam is not something I would not use with a blower, the headers and exhaust vary wildly on cost and quality. Kooks are considered by most to be the top brand for these cars, I have not heard anything about the Blackhorse headers. Modifying any car for performance is an overall package of parts that will work together to accomplish your goal. How many miles are on the car, what condition are the major components in now? Do you have the ability to do the wrenching yourself? Is this a street car, or track use only? We need more information before we can assist you in making informed decisions.

Why do you think it's an LS3? Stock the automatic came with L99, The LS3's were in the manual cars. You wouldn't want that cam if you are supercharging it you want a cam designed for boost not "NA" Texas speed or BTR has cams for boost. If it's an L99 you'll want to delete the AFM, Auto guys will know more, I don't know specifics.

You are definitely wanting to start aggressive with mods, and nothing wrong with that. You will always want some suspension mods to get that power to the ground, and keep it there. Most usually don't want to start with a Blower and a Cam, but hey, if you got the funds, by all means jump all over that power!!

It has 48,500 miles, components are in good shape. I can do some of the wrenching myself, mostly with the help of friends though. Quote:
Where will I be able to find the auto guys here? Quote:

I have supercharger, headers, off road connectors, upgraded half shafts, upgraded driveshaft, and upgraded suspension components. It is very easy/friendly driving on the road, and fun at the stripe and track. Will it blow the doors off anyone, not really, but it still fun to get behind the wheel every time. It will run low 12's with street tires.
I would love to add a small cam this winter, we will see how that goes (as it's a solid, great driving car now). It has 53k miles on it and runs great. |

I agree with greenhornet, that cam is an aggressive hydraulic roller cam that is designed for NA, and would play nicely with a centrifugal supercharger, but not a PD or roots style blower. A Heartbeat is going to want a looser LSA and preferably smaller camshaft/blower cam. It has to do with the powerband, shape of the curve, valve events, that is just the wrong cam for that particular supercharger. You also want to have your fuel system upgraded and working to facilitate the needs of the blower. ZL1 pump with an aux at minimum and some injectors, with the FPCM. Once that is in place, how are you gonna put that power to the ground? Suspension, wheel and tire combo needs to be considered if not addressed. Then theres pulley size and how much boost are you wanting to run? My best advice is to be patient and research, research ,and research some more. Also to get in touch with a quality shop like GPI or TSP that can get you in the right direction and help curtail your mods into a build that suits your end goals and needs.
