license plate bulbs housing need to be replace

Of all the craziest pieces to be replaced, I took my Camaro over to my friends house today so he can measure out the license plate bulbs' housing to make me some custom LED lights.

I take off the license plate bulb housings because I knew one bulb was burnt out but I didn't know the surprise I was about to see. The passenger side bulb wasn't even in the housing. Where it was ? So now I take off the license plate and trace the wire down. The bulb was definitely burnt out, AND had a chunk taken out of the glass. I look at the housing and notice the two little "tightening" tabs on the housings were torn off, the bulb had come out of the housing, and melted part of the plastic.

I take out the other housing and the light is still there, but also, the little "tightening" tabs are torn off and this light is stuck to the inside of the housing, also melting it. See pics below of the damages.

Where can I get replacement housings from? And does anyone know the cost?

ahhhh..bump because I'm trying to get the just the cover for the light (why it's missing is beyond me) When I went to swap my bulbs for LEDs I noticed the cover was only on one side -.-
...just the incandescent plastic :/

Yeah, I understand that, but it's part of the housing, and the housing is only sold in that set... unless you can find one in a junk yard or something.

GMpartsdirect has them for $10 cheaper. I sent an email to patrick@gmpartshouse to see if he can possibly help me out and just sell me the housings. We'll find out when I get a response

That sounds good, Blue10CamaroSS, do you need the plastic covers or just the internal housing? maybe I could get it off of you?

For the LEDs though, it looks like a lot for a license plate. I would have guessed you need 3-5 LEDs per side, 10/side sounds too much.

I need the full housing for both sides. But before we do anything, I completely forgot, these are "new cars" I still have my factory bumper to bumper warranty. I should be able to just go to a dealer and get them replaced. My friend just woke me up to that.

The guy making my LEDs likes bright. And he uses the good American LEDs, not those cheap overseas ones and they come with a warranty. Even still, the downward light is still concentrated in the one spot so it's not like a flood of LEDs, just a little brighter than most.

well, the email from patrick stated that they cannot separate the pieces so I would have to order the full harness and housing if I went that route. However, the car is at my local dealership as it should be covered under warranty. I'll get the info tomorrow.
