Friday Project= Hurst Shifter and Catch Can

Hey C5, so yesterday evening i decided to tackle the Hurst Billet plus and the Billet Custom catch can install from Phastek.

Install on both went fairly simple and I wont be able to speak for the catch can for a few thousand miles, but the Hurst shifter makes a huge difference in shift quality. I wish my 2010 came with this shifter stock. And it only took about 20 minutes of fiddling around to get that lower boot back on. while i was down there i installed the dynamat according to the awesome How-To by our fellow member Nessal. I know the hurst shifter was an option stock but i bought this car used so I had no say in the build lol.

Here are pics to keep you all satisfied.

Nice, I did those exact mods on my 2010 and then a while later had the Ported TB, CAI and catback exhaust put on.
I had never used a short throw before and wow... it completely changes the feel of driving..
Can't wait to get one on the new Camaro.. Just waiting for the money tree to grow back.

i did mine a bit backwards like a month or so ago i put on a ported TB and intake manifold then i put these on. im keeping this car for a while so all this wont go wasted for sure. next big mods will be long tube headers and vararam intake. but in the meantime maybe ill move on to putting poly bushings throughout? lol

I think I'm going to do all the same mods, but cut it off at headers. Just don't need the extra oomph.
I was driving in the rain yesterday, and yes, I know I probably voided my warranty by getting my car wet, but anyway.. I was thinking.. yeah... all this car needs is about 40 more horsepower...??

I'm leaning towards the MGW this time. Not that the Hurst is bad, I freaking loved mine and got compliments constantly from anyone who got to drive it. (usually mechanics pulling it in for service).
Just heard a lot about the MGW and would like to give it a shot.. It IS double the price and the Hurst is on sale now through Amazon until the end of December..
Where did you buy yours from??

Don't believe the hurst shifter was an option on the 2010's.

Yeah i heard a bunch of good things about the mgw, but i couldnt pass up the price and looks of this hurst. I got it from Phastek, i was a bit leary at first because people said sometimes shipping takes a while, but i ordered it on sunday and i had both packages by friday.

I think it might have been added mid-year. a lot of options were..
But it's a very satisfying mod and not too hard to do....

Might be right, I took delivery on mine in Nov '09 and it wasn't an option at that time.

The factory Hurst shifter is 22% shorter throw the regular factory shifter. The Hurst Billet shifter is 44% shorter throw then the factory shifter.
