2016 Camaro vs 2016 Corvette on the dyno

Both cars are bone stock...which one outperforms the other?

Thought I would share this with you fellow performance junkies. Conducted by JDP http://www.torquenews.com/106/2016-c...-2016-corvette

Here is another test with similiar results. Conducted by Hennessey. http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...-the-corvette/

The power is close, but beacuse the Stingray is lighter it is the better performer. I have seen a stock 2014 6 Speed Auto Stingray run 11.6 with just drag radials. The fastest stock 2016 8 speed auto SS on DRs so far I think was 11.8. And I doubt if a 2017 1LE will keep up with a Z-51 7M Stingray on a road course.

Physics will decide the race given equal drivers. Both have a great suspension, chassis, and tires. Count on it.

Look at drag strip and road course times to declare a winner. Dynos are only important whan comparing the same car under the same atmospheric conditions. Otherwise they mean very little.

Probably though with more room under the hood Chevy squeezed a few more HP out of the Camaro with the shorty type manifolds. Otherwise why would they bother? But the weight difference is too much for that difference to be meaningful.

I rented a Z51 Stingray and test drove a 2016 SS. The Ray would win. Not only because of weight but the setup has better pull from mid range to redline, the Camaro SS seems to fall off just after midrange but have tons more low end torque.

Don't get me wrong man. Even if the Camaro puts out better numbers on the dyno...I am aware the Vette will still win in the 1/4 mile or road coarse. The Corvette is the flagship performance car of GM...the Camaro is it's little brother. lol
