Any opinions on R888 vs NT01 for our cars?

285/35R20 Fronts
315/30R20 Rear

Done some reading on both ... Most of it was on vehicles other than ours

I am leaning towards getting some R888s from Tire Rack now... Forum sponsor and all...

Thanks for the inputs

I like the triple 8 more. Not the best tired but 20s wise they are legit. Can find cheaper other places. Cheaper still when you get your local tire guy to price match the Internet price.

I'm going to try NT01's as my next tire. I hear nothing but great reviews. Both from new performance to worn in, well heat cycled performance.

I went with 888s

Used tire rack because of a forum sponsor ... At my noob skill level probably won't matter either way.

R888 takes awhile to heat up for AutoX. If I stay 20" and in SM, next tire will be NT01.

I've used r888 and have heard good things about NT01. The only negative about the r888 is they roar like a monster truck mudder tire.

the 888s are good tires but they have their drawbacks. they last a long time compared to slicks but they usually heat cycle out before they wear out. thats why guys have them shaved for racing. i can get 12 good days out of them but they fall off after that. they get shiney and out of round after that. i ran one set 18 track days and they were like riding on medicine balls. lol.
im starting the season with one set of 888s 295/30/19 on 10.5s square for cool mornings, giving rides, and damp track. and one set of heat cycled hoosier R7s 295/30/19s on 10.5s square for joining the nation. DOMINATION!!! LOL

R888s are not bad at all... when they work. They heatcycle out fairly quickly - long before the thread is done. They also steadily lose grip as you use them, which means, as you start getting worse lap times, you'll wonder if it was you or the tires that caused the change.

I thought pretty much the same thing about the 20 inch nt01. Couldn't figure out if my neck and shoulder were tired out or if tires are falling off.

Both made by the same company God knows. Z28 driver at the track told me his faster lap times at Limerock was with the Pirelli TRofeo Rs still over the R888s.

FWIW - I prefer the NT01s over the R888s. Just seem to stick better and warm up quicker. Running stock rear rims on all 4 corners.
