Possible Power Steering Issue When in Slalom
During the last Solo event here in the PacNW, my Camaro did something while in a lengthy slalom section of the course.
The car was wallowing about in its usual manner through the first section of the slalom but at about 3/4 through, the steering would get suddenly very heavy as if my power steering was failing through the last 3 cones. Once through, at the end of the short straight before a medium, left turn, the steering felt normal again and the car seemed just fine. This issue has never surfaced on my 2010 SS before and the car only has 61K miles on it so I find it surprising that my power steering could be going out already. I have driven the car everyday since I bought it and never noticed this before but then again, I don't do slaloms on the street. ![]() Any thoughts? Anyone else experienced this? Scott |

my car has 36000 and im on my 3rd power steering pump. they pop like popcorn on track cars. change to a good fluid. look up the cheap parts on rock auto. when and if you do get a pump, go ahead and buy the pump, reservoir, and pulley. one of the race groups make a good one but its must be made of gold for what they ask for it.

Flush your PS fluid. Use a good synthetic fluid as replacement.
Could also be your belt slipping, too.

Have you thought about installing a Turn One?
http://www.turnone-steering.com/#!on...egory=12405744 I believe JDP has them (you'll want the pulley)... http://www.jdpmotorsports.com/brands...ro-ss-t40rbz28 -Don

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm actually relieved to see that this is a bit more "common".
I'm installing new sways, springs and trailing arms tomorrow so I'll flush the power steering system first and if the roads stay dry enough, I'll find somewhere to do some testing before replacing the pump with a better one. Scott |

![]() I use the Turn One pump in my Camaro and it is a great upgrade! I also installed an additional power steering cooler since I track the car extensively. Kind regards, Jordan Priestley 888.308.6007 |

Do you have a link to the power steering cooler on your website? Does it come with instructions? Please PM me if you do. Thanks, Tomm |
