it is 9, however in the rear is counted 4 not 2, because of the inner tweeters, when I counted I was confused as well, and a little down. Its a fine system-if you like the sound of the motor!

You do realize that you can't just swap the head unit, right?

Dash Center Speaker - one 3-1/2" (3" depth)
Door Speakers - each door - one 6-1/2" (3" depth)
Door Tweeters - each door - one 1" (1" depth)
Rear Deck - two 6" x 9" (depth unlimited - directly into trunk space)

The 6" x 9" are two-way speakers, and GM counts those as four individual speakers.

So, 4 in the back, 4 in each door, and the center channel. There's 9 according to GM. There's 7 according to most people. And you could technically consider the door 6-1/2" speakers and 1" tweeters as component speakers, so some would even say it only has five speakers.

I will probably, at some point, decide to upgrade everything to Infinity Kappa's, but figuring out how many amps I will need is the most difficult part. I dislike the idea of giving the center channel it's own dedicated amp, but that's what I may have to do. We'll see.

RS has nothing to do with speakers.

At the moment, either a hell of a lot of work or a pretty decent amount of money. Probably a warranty void too.

Because this car is not designed to accept an aftermarket radio. The standard radio contains alot of the electronics that control other parts of the car.

This thread will give you an idea. Basically you have to keep the stock radio (relocateed) in the car and add the other head unit. You'll have to mold a face plate for it since noone really makes one (yet). Not easy at all.

They better be GOOD and be prepared to spend lots of $$$$ as it's very work intensive.
