So, the intake is taking in ambient air like it's supposed to? I think I'm missing something.

What's that translate to in standard deviation of the two temperatures, about .02% HP per degree?

cheap intakes will have intake air temps well above ambient due to heat soak of the intake tube. K&N's intake that has the chrome intake tube will have much higher temps cause that metal tube is going to get hot. there are other intakes that will have similar issues. the cooler the air going in is the better the car will run.

The K&N seals to the hood of the car where the air filter is , not sure how well but that is why they have a top gasket, that and to keep peeps from cutting themselves on the metal surround . It drive me crazy when people spout stuff with out proof. Sorry. If you have it post it. I know you were just using K&N as a example but They are not a cheap Intake.

Not saying CAI Inc isn't good or possibly the best; however, I haven't seen or heard anything here one way or the other to prove it is or isn't. Where's the comparison data? I would need to see the results of other CIA systems tested under the same exact conditions.
In regards to the temps shown, where is the sensor for air intake flow? Is it pre or post filter (mounted in the box with the filter or in the tube close to the TB)? If it's mounted in the box with the filter, my guess is you would get similar readings regardless of the CIA. Glad you're happy with your CIA and that it is performing they way you want

Why would it ever be higher? Heat soak?
