Borla ATAK catback exhaust & Texas speed headers

I'm going to buy a full exhaust setup soon and would like to run the borla ATAK catback with Texas speed longtube headers. I'm just wondering what type of problems I may run into. By problems I mean check engine codes, afm noise, and any other annoyances. Any feedback would be awesome. Also, anything I may need to buy along with the setup that anyone can think of?

You will get a check engine light with longtube headers.

Yup, get a tune by a reputable tuner.

Yea you need a tune. You can't pass inspection with a check engine light

OP Michigan doesn't inspect right, you could put a piece of tape over the light if it bothers you, lolz.

I'm trying to go without a tune as I don't want to void the warranty lol.

No tune with headers just leaves potential on the table. Tune it.

I had warranty work done with longtube headers and a dynotune so it depends on your dealer. But since you said u wanna keep warranty so I would just do Catback and maybe hiflow cats.

You could go with some high flow cats for now until you're ready to take that leap.

You will see a check engine light as stated above with LT headers. You may get some drone with AFM and Borla Atak exhaust. To remedy the CEL you will need a tune. With the tune if the tuner turns off AFM you may eliminate the drone associated with AFM. However, you will likely void certain parts of your warranty potentially all with the tune based off of which dealer you go to. Like someone else said, if you want some performance gain without voiding the warranty then get some high flow cats that bolt to the stock manifolds and a cat back exhaust like your Borla Atak. Personally I love my Solo Mach XL setup and it is drone free. I only mention Solo because Solo hi flow cats are the least likely to throw a CEL code.

Surprised you still have a warranty on a 2012? I started with SP LT Headers, Cat Delete pipe, CAI, and a Borla Atak. I got the Tune from PhasTec at the time, and it was a breeze to upload it. With this, you really need a simple tune or you are looking at codes and will not get the performance potential after spending the $$. Buy the High Flow Cats if you want as they WILL quiet down the system a little and reduce back rap and rasp, but I actually like this as it makes it sound really aggressive. Trust me - this set-up sounds wicked and you will be amazed at the performance. The Atak is about as loud as it comes and not for everybody.

Ok I'm going to buy the full system and get a tune. The headers come with "off road" cats, should I even bother with them or just do a cat delete? Also, does anyone recommend a tuner in the metro detroit area?

I suggest Alternative Auto on Gratiot north of 23. He did my Blower and Cam install, and Dyno Tune, and is a Pro. It will be worth every penny and you will have a Dyno Sheet to see the results. The Cat choice is yours, they say the High Flow's only have a 2% or 3% or so power loss. Again, if you go with a Borla Atak AND Cat delete pipes like I did it will be somewhat louder and may back rap when getting off the pedal. Personally - I love this, but it may annoy others.
