Thoughts on selling

Seeing what it is going to cost to send two children to college I am thinking of selling my car.
I have a 2015 2SS RS 1le with NPP 2k on the clock. Its almost paid off and I enjoy driving it.

What advice do you have with kids going to college and a owning a fun 2nd car ???

Sell the non-fun 1st car and keep the 1LE as your daily.

Student loans. I worked 2 part time jobs and went to school. Time to toughen them up while you enjoy your 1LE

Nah help the kids out. Maybe they'll buy you a car once they're done

^^^^^^agree with both plus the military route you get free tuition assistance while you serve.

Combined it paid my way to a Masters Degree.

I know its hard to do, but seriously the Air National Guard is a great way to pay for school depending on what tuition rate your state reimburses. Just make sure you are selective on the career field they take as you want it to benefit the career aspirations they have. For instance I got a security clearance that has benefited me in my civilian career doing IT.

Its a 6 year commitment, 1 weekend a month and 15 days a year annual training. They can do temp tech in the summer and have a great paying job for 18. Also, make sure they get the GI Bill and Kicker.. 333 for GI bill and 350 extra every month while they go to school. So many pros with very little cons.

Community college for the first 2 years and student loans.
Gotta teach the kids how to be responsible for their lives/futures.

Drove a WS6 and kept the big block '69 as my daughter went through school. Some student loans, some state grants (GA has the Hope Scholarship - paid for with lottery money), little help from grandparents, and it was still a stretch. We bought no new vehicles through that time. I would hold onto that 1LE if I could. You said it was almost paid off, so maybe use that money towards their school. Also, don't be afraid to use it as a daily. That's what we do with ours now.

It all depends on the planned course of study. If they are going with some useless liberals arts program, keep the car and make them waste their own money. If they are going into sciences, business, IT or some other useful career path you might want to help them out.
