Awfully silly question about headers and how they bolt up

Do they bolt up to the stock exhaust? I have removed the resonator and had a shop weld an xpipe in and have some overpriced glass pack mufflers. But, other than that it is stock piping. Would headers with cats bolt up to this system? If so, which ones?

My Texas Speed headers no cats bolt up to the stock exhaust. I would believe the cats will also.

When you order them most have an option for factory connect.

100% incorrect.

There are many many options on header connections and collector types. Are you running stock exhaust and mid-pipe? Or do you want to run headers with a proprietary mid-pipe? There is also a option for the size of the exhaust pipe header to muffler. There are mid-pipes that are available with and without cats. I have Kooks headers, mid-pipe, no cats, all 3" and Kooks mufflers. Not one piece would be compatible with the stock parts. To say that all headers bolt up to the factory exhaust is completely inaccurate. Compare a Kooks, PFADT and American Racing flanges, they are all different.

For a budget set of quality headers, I recommend Speed Engineering LT's. They're built quite well, fit awesome and are full 304SS, as well as coming with catless connection pipes and O2 sensor extensions for the grand price of $355 shipped when I bought mine. I don't see the point of spending 600+ on headers when there are other, just as good options out there that are priced much more reasonable.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I'm a welder and a machinist and I seen absolutely no flaws in how they were constructed or the fitment. They were TIG welded by someone who knew what they were doing with back purge. They were welded inside and out just like the American counterparts with a merge spike to boot. I had not one issue w/them and there's no reason to spout off nonsense saying they are junk. If they were indeed junk, then I would not have purchased them or at least steered everyone else away from them. I've had ARH headers as well as JBA and a few others. The Speed Engineering are every bit as good of a header as the others. My trap speeds say so. For a generic canned SCT tune car to trap 115 in 2400 d/a, I'd say they work quite well. Anyone that says they're junk without ever even trying a set out has NO room to speak of. Don't be butt hurt that I spent half as much for a complete set of headers that fit and worked excellent vs most guys on here. Stop with the biased opinions and give honest facts.

So wait, how do I find out if it just bolts up to the stock piping? I was looking at the Texas Speed, https://www.texas-speed.com/p-2168-t...ro-ss-62l.aspx
With the catted extenstions and o2 extensions.

This would bolt up? Like I said I had an xpipe put in, but I don't think that would be any issue since nothing was touched/cut/welded in front of the xpipe.

I do this for a living and have installed no less than 100 sets of various brand headers on C5, C6, C7 Corvettes and Gen5 Camaros so I am giving my non biased opinion based on honest facts based on my experience.

Here is a perfect example. Customer came into the shop Today with a C7 Corvette complaining the steering had a flat spot while turning at slow speeds. He mentions that another shop had installed a set of long tube headers last week. I open the hood and what do I see? #5 primary tube rubbing on the steering shaft. On the even bank all four plug wires were in complete contact with the primary tubes. I can't make this up! And look at the color. My Kooks don't look like this. These are Chinese made and are the house brand of a sponsor of this forum. These are the honest facts.

Great guys to deal with I have used their cams before and some of their tuning.

The last paragraph on the description will answer your question.

"Headers are available with off-road connection pipes, or high flow cats with band clamp to connect our long tube headers to your factory exhaust system"

Oh, FYI I have used eBay headers before on my Corvette. Did they fit? Yes, after I made them fit.

Did they rub the crap out of the steering? Sure as heck did.
Did they last? Sure did, over 7 years.

Did they look good? They did before I started the car lol.

Would I buy them again? Not after installing SW headers and seeing how easy and perfect the install was.
