Need Help - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

iv been fighting this sense i got my car. first let me tell u the story.
as soon as i found out my car was built i went to my dealer and gave them a list of requests when the car got in. such as no dealer emblems, fill with high octane gas ect. well one of those on the list was the most important. i put it in bold letters and it was the first on the list. "DO NOT INSTALL FRONT LICENSE PLATE ADAPTER". i gave this to the sales manager and my dealer and after a bit of an argument they agreed to pull the car off the truck and not touch it at all.
fast forward to the delivery day. i drive up to get my car and the dealer tells me by law they had to install the front license plate adapter. now i live in a different state that does NOT have a front license plate (they know that also). im pissed of coarse. but i am not waiting another 4 months and find another dealer to order another car. the next day after staring at this black pimple on the front of my car i decide to do a little research and i call some other Colorado dealers. come to find out there is no law in Colorado for front license plate adapters the only law is for colorado residents and it is just to display a front plate. they dont care if it is in your window as long as it is up front.
so i call gm. after 3 weeks they determine because it is a dealer installed item i have to deal with the dealer, and the dealer denied i told them or gave them that list. well the dealer keeps telling me its the law and they wont fix it. all i want is a new painted bumper with out that black pimple on it. last week i talked to the owner of the dealer he said he would call me back by last fri. i still haven't herd from him.

what can i do? i gave them a paper in writing. 2 people agreed to it. any lawyers on here wanna scare them for me.

but seriously im getting really pissed.

Did they SIGN your "paper" you gave them?

I would say by you accepting the car and paying for it you okayed it. Did you see it before you signed on the dotted line?

I accepted mine even though they put their sticker on the back. I gave them a similar list as yours. I knew the sticker would be easy to remove when I saw it so no big deal. I did give them one point less on the customer satisfaction survey for not following directions.

I don't think I could deal with the front license plate bracket if they screwed that up.

You may have to go back there and get in their faces, and the most they will do is fix your car and repaint your front bumper. They can't order them already painted.

Yeah I think you would have something if they had signed two copies of your letter. One you would have kept and one you would have given to them.

they told me before i signed. i asked them to fix it and they said its the law and they wont fix it. they had me by the balls they would gladly have me walk away and even told me we will give u ur deposit back. there was no negotiations i asked for a price discount they told me no we can sell your car for 10k over sticker. so not only did i have to pay $2500 over msrp i didnt get any discounts including the $500 60 day rebate (because acording to them they dont participate)

this happened to a friend of mine and he had them wright on the sales order before he signed that they would replace the bumber cover. It took them awhile because they waited until another one came in with the same color and switched them.

I can tell you I would have said F off give my deposit back. My dealer dropped the rs package on mine and then It took them forever to get it even after It was built. I told them to keep it and I'm glad. Now, I got one a couple of months later for $2000 off sticker plus credit union discount and $1000gm card points. Their sitting on lots now and the mark up game is over.

Now I have not looked into the license plate bracket. How many screws hold it on and how big are they.

there are 4 rivets. not screws i cant even take it off with out drilling the rivets out.

Looks like 4, and if it's been put on there you won't want to take it off, they are big screws.

There's really nothing you can do but find a good body shop to fix it. However I'd tell the dealership that if they dont fix it, it will cost them more in the long run from the bad press they will get from you on the forums..... and it will!

I was very lucky that my dealership honored my request... no front plate, even though it's required in Texas and no rear dealer sticker. Of course i did offer them the opportunity to pay me for the advertising space if they really wanted it on the car.
