Question about already-owned new rims and tires

I just got new wheels, they get installed tomorrow. The rims and tires are both brand spankin' new and the tires were mounted on the rims very recently. They are inflated and properly balanced.

Is there anything, as far as safety, that I need to know? I don't plan on letting it off the lift tomorrow and stomping on it but is there a "break in" period or anything I need to be aware of?

No issue with the wheels. Brand new tires usually have a greasy film on them. Be gentle on the throttle for the first 10 miles or so, especially pulling out of the shop. Or do a brake stand burnout to burn it off. lol

LOL!!! Thanks man, that makes sense. There's some adhesive on the tires left over from the packaging as well. I might have to burn that off too.

I make sure lug nuts will work the new wheels unless it came with some.

^ Thank you too, jdrop. Yes, the new wheels came with lugs.

Unfortunately I just noticed they also came with a couple blemishes on the rims. There are 2 tiny, barely perceptible ones but there is one that is quite noticeable. The finish is clearly scraped away and there's exposed metal showing. I e-mailed Carid in fact, the same guy I was asking questions to while the wheels were on the way. He was extremely responsive then, now he's quite quiet.

Any advice? I guess, how much bitching do I do?

Are the wheels hub centric or do you need to buy the hub centric rings?

Drive a few, do a few circles, then retorque the wheels

If the tires are just mounted, be aware there may be some lube between the tire and wheel. It's possible to spin the tire on the wheel, throwing off the balance. This usually isn't a concern a day or more after they're mounted, though.
As far as the blemish - get some clear coat on it, or some touch up paint, so that moisture/junk can't get under the finish and wreak havoc right away.

It came with rings, they were taped in the wheels when I took it to the shop for install. Not sure what they did but the thing drives GREAT!

They did say to retorque at 100 miles. I'll just do that myself - once I get a tire iron that fits the new lugs of course. Thanks man.

There was some lube on the rims, I washed that off and that's when I found the blemishes. I will touch them up then clear them. You're right, that's important. Thanks man.

So here is a before pic with the stock 17's and an after pic with the new 20's. What do you guys think?
