If you know how to weld and drive to pep boys/auto zone and buy the straight pipes and tips yeah it only costs about $150 (well according to that guy) and you cut off the stock exhaust, weld on the straight pipes, and then the tips...

I don't have a welder or know how to weld either though so taking it to a shop would be the easiest after you buy the parts (and that's probably why it comes out to about $150 because parts alone i doubt come out that expensive)

I am not sure you can weld stainless the same as regular steel and the pipes you get at autozone I believe are not stainless. If you are going to go this route I suggest having it done unless you can weld stainless and bend pipes becasue I looked, it isnt a straight shot to bypass the muffler. It would require some bends...

Muffler+Cat(?) delete. He just chopped off the exhaust, and repiped it- bypassing the mufflers, and I'm assuming, the cats as well. Great vid.

Yeah I wasn't sure either and would never attempt it...It would definitely be worth the money to just take it to an exhaust shop to do it for you and tell them to straight pipe it

I did this exact thing to my SS. It sounds awsome. Everyone thinks I spent big $$$$ on a new exhaust. I went to an exhaust shop that I used in the past. Had him remove the mufflers, cut off the factory tip, bend and weld up a straight pipe and then weld on the factory tip. Total cost was $80.

Sounds awsome and you no longer have to look at those big trashcan looking mufflers.

Like a boss! lmao.

When/if I do any exhaust to mine when I get it, I'll probably be going with a DNA muffler for it...

Got one on my Blazer... Sounds like straight pipe, but quiet! lol, my truck is barely twice as loud as it was stock (and stock, it was quieter than a sunfire), and this is after removing the pre-cat

With the factory cats still on the car this is a great sound.... I am assuming that the factory manifolds and cats are still on the car.

Only problem might be if you go with headers and high flow cats later the sound would be a lot louder and definitely have a harsher tone without some kind of muffler. Definitely no stock mufflers.
