Could this possibly be a strut or sway bar issue?

Does kinda resemble that sound. Is your hood closed well? Check your lug nuts. Does it drive fine? I expect so since your only complaint is the sound. I had a door panel come loose...might make sure there is nothing rolling around under the hood, trunk, glovebox....license plate bracket?

sounds like something steering or suspension related... I hate tracking them down.

Unfortunately that's what the shop is saying, quoted me at 1100 and I'm not sure if that's reasonable or not because suspension work is beyond my comprehension.
