9 days in garage = dead battery on 14ss

Hey boys, just wondering if anyone else has had their battery quit on them this quickly.

Here's the breakdown (pun intended):

-Battery is dead, dead. It wouldn't even unlock the doors, index the windows or turn on a dome light.
-Parked in my garage 9 days without driving.
-Basically nothing aftermarket.
-Has 18k miles.
-It has been cold here in Seattle but my garage temp is around 40s-50s most of the time.

The worst part is my buddy with his 15 GT/pp harrasment.

Happy 17!

Do you have a Range device that you left plugged in?
I do, and after 4 days my battery was dead. Charged it back up and now remember to un-plug the Range when appropriate. No battery problems in over a year and a half since.
If you don't, then I'd guess you've got a slow drain someplace (or a faulty battery).
Just guessing...

On my 14 I left my exhaust controller on for 5 days and when i got in to start it it said low voltage. After 2 weeks the battery is in a low state of charge but will start it as long as I remembered to shut off the Forza. I don't know what uses so much power when off on these cars maybe Onstar.

Thanks for the replies guys. That's good to know about the Forza controller. I was thinking about putting one on.

The dealership's answer.... New battery. The did a drain and recharge. I took a look at the little graph and it appeared it was only at 30% capacity. Unfortunately I have to go back tomorrow to get it. They didn't have one instock.

Hope this battery was just a fluke. My 03 Duramax is only on its 3 set of batteries.

Get the Forza. Its really a nice kit they send you. I like being able to close the flapper on startup if needed. You can also hook it up to switched power but I didnt.

Have your battery checked. Sometimes you can get a mediocre or bad battery from the factory. It is common for batteries to go dead in cold climates (or starting problems to worsen). If the battery is still good, then you should install a battery tender to the car when its parked in the winter, at least until you resolve the drain issue and/or replace the battery.

Keep note that any drain or parasitic drain should not be excessive, because the battery tender may not necessarily keep the battery charged if you have a large power drain. Good luck.

I had my car die after 5 days sitting once. The only thing I had noticed was that I had my phone charger plugged in that had a lit led to show it's power state. I could not imagine that being my issue but to play it on the safe side, I never leave my charge stay plugged in.

May be a stupid question but would the battery be covered under warranty?
