ZL1 spoiler rubbing paint off

Has anyone successfully gotten their dealer to cover this? If no, how did you guys go about fixing those spots?

Successful? It's not a fight brother, GM has issued a TSP Bulletin on it and it's in your dealers best interest to perform the work. I don't have links off the top of my hand but you can forum search it. This is a known issue.

There is no "fix", your entire trunk lid has to be repainted. When you get the car back, take the wing off and remove the worthless junk (some imitation 3m tape) the dealer put on and go buy your own quality 3M tape to use.

If it's still under the bumper to bumper warranty they may cover it.

I took mine off and had it painted, problem solved. Didn't do warranty because it would just get messed up worse, lol

You took off the whole trunk lid? I can't find any TSB's that cover any years other than 2010 and 2011..

It was my thought those were the only years covered, they changed the mounting pads since then. I don't think there was ever a TSB for the ZL1 for this issue.

I don't think so either, but obviously there should be.

No, you don't remove the trunk lid, it gets stripped and painted directly on the car.

We've never had a problem getting our lids repaired under TSB or warranty. Then again, we take care of our members in Houston and have pretty significant relationships with several service dealers.

I don't know the technicals on the service side though with 2014+ models (and select 2013) you should have no trouble getting it covered under the bumper to bumper warranty.

Hopefully you're a part of a local club with a Chevy sponsor that will take care of you like we do in H-Town. If not, I can only suggest you work patiently with a service advisor that cares about your vehicle as much as you do.

I already took off my rear spoiler so should I take the car with the rear spoiler already off? I have a lot of experience with dealerships fighting me for warranty work and I can see about a thousand different ways they will fight this as well..

I have an appointment at the dealership on Monday. Anyone have any tips on how I should approach this to hopefully get it covered? My car IS still under B2B warranty by the way.

I'm not sure what more can be offered. You have paint flaking/chipping off a warrantied vehicle.

There are a ton of variables to if you get your car taken care of properly; attitude, gifts, bribe, dealer relationship, being a dealer sponsor, developing a history with service advisor.

This is one of the primary reasons to join the local camaro club. Instead of being someone off the street coming in with a problem, you could be a part of the local family taking care of their own.
