417 LS3 Camaro SS
Due to a cracked piston I built a 417 Scat 4340 Stroker, local machine shop did the hone and cam bearings and I stroker clearanced it and built the rest. All ARP 12 point fastners.
Ordered from CNC motorsports, everything was perfect. Scat has excellent machining and everything was bang on. Some pics for the people's! Last edited by LS3SSSuperSport; 05-07-2025 at 04:34 PM. |

Just a local guy on a mustang dyno. It's the only dyno I use so he has all the graphs from all the years of upgrades. It reads low but, as long as I show a gain I don't care.
I guess that ping I herd on start up should have been addressed, oh well I got a stroker kit out of it. Piston cracked at startup at work. Drove there fine and then at the end of day, when to start it and made a bang than ran rough, so I drove it home... piston was smashed it millions of pieces. Never did find any pistons when I took the headers off. |

Fun build. That intake is so intriguing - test results have looked decent - definitely needs to have the biggest TB available on it to deliver its best.

I have been very interested in the Performance Design intake. But a couple things would have me nervous about running it. Mainly, the fuel rails and injectors under a cover. Not being able to see them and quickly inspect for leaks? IDK, I might be overthinking things, but that makes it awful hard to spot a leak and then *poof* - no more Camaro.

Update took the car for a drive yesterday with BR30 breaking oil and running great!! I did have a set back, I had a leaking head gasket with the felpro gaskets shown in the pictures. So I pulled the heads and installed TFS Cometic .045 to help quench. I upped the torque on my ARP studs ro 90lbs and pressure tested it and no leaks!! I ran cometic before with no issue and should have went with them. My new clutch is also work amazing!!!!! I burned out a RXT Twin, was crap from the start. This Twin Extreme feels like stock, engages off the bottom, feels great. Trust just buy the ACT you won't be disappointed!! Part Number T2S-G05 - ACT Twin Disc Extreme Street Clutch Kit. Will be at the dyno at the end of the month, keep you posted.

Hi just going over your posts , I just bought a 2014,Camaro SS with a Ls3 and 6 speed std trans., it has a hurt engine , he was not sure what happened was running good, went into a store come back out started it up made a crunching type noise stalled out, he left it at that point. I started pulling front water pump and timing cover off to check tensioner out it was fine but in the pan I could see a few pces, fished them out and found a pce of piston and piston ring. Is this somewhat of a common problem with these motors ? Thanks for your time.

Update.
Hit the dyno two weeks ago, mustang dyno so you know numbers 15% off a dyno jet...but hey it's a measuring tool so here are the gains. It's a small cam at 238 254, but still made great gains. The torque you can feel, it's so much faster, it just pulls. We should have ran it up to 7000rpm, and maybe some more timing but I can always dyno it next year. Share your thoughts. |
