I can handle the butterflies.......but when it comes LOVEBUG season.....omg.....

as somewhat of a solution, I have been doing this for years. As you all know, when they are "fresh" they come off fairly easy. I have a regular dampened hand towel in a zip lock bag which I keep in my door pocket, or in the trunk. When I get somewhere after a long drive, and IF there was a lot of BIG BUG activity, I just drag it out and wipe them off. its certainly easier after they have baked in the sun all day.

I drove to Austin and back last weekend and I had the whole "splatterfest" thing going on also. I was wondering, have any of you gotten the clear bra on the front? And if you did, is the bugs easier to get off? I swear, it's like the little critters not only smashed into the car, they became part of the paint!! Hard as s!@* to remove

Did mine two days ago, drove it yesterday, and already like 10 splattered butterflies all over my front bumper. Grrrr....

Was that your summit white I saw driving down Wurzbach Parkway headed towards Blossom the other day? LOOKED GREAT!

Those freakin things + the phase 2 Austin water restrictions =

Living in an apartment, I have no place to hand wash my car anymore to get them and other crap off my car. Sucks.

Tag, after I built my first custom many years ago, I have done this, some people think it being a little "ANAL", but obviously they just don't understand, and they are obviously NOT car people.

Another similar idea that works really well...for about $10 + tax, you can pick up "The Absorber" at most auto parts stores and I think Target and WalMart might sell it too. SummitSS turned me on to it. It's basically a synthetic chamois ("shammy"), but it absorbs a ton of water and it comes rolled up in a re-usable plastic tube. You can keep it pretty damp in that tube in the back of the car and it won't drip or mildew (even says so on the package). Comes in handy for quick elimination of bird droppings, butterflies, etc.

That, plus I keep a spray bottle of Meguiar's Quick Detailer and some micro-fiber towels in the trunk to shine everything back up. These butterflies are killing me this week, but I'm trying to stay ahead of 'em and "Quick Detail" them off whenever I stop. I'll bet some folks think I'm crazy...but I don't care. Gotta keep the paint looking good for as long as possible!

All car owners are dealing with this... always have and always will. Its just part of having a ncie car. Fortunately its almost winter so it will be a non issue for while.

Clear bras will prevent rock chips and bug stains... but you willl still have to clean them off... and its not that much easier. But if your anal about your car you will be happy you have one especially once love bug season starts. If you dont clean those off quickly they will etch the paint. They will also absorb into the clear bra. But as I have told my customers for years, use a good sealant on the clear bra and its not a problem. I have found an acrylic sealant that is outstanding on claer bras... well at least VentureShield since thats what I carry. It would be better to have them on the clear bra than damaging the paint. Todays paints are very soft. I have seen a lot of new Camaros that I go to install on and they are already chipped up with only a few hundred miles.
