Uncomfortable at the Lisle IL dealership while waiting to get Bumblebee's USB fixed

I had to take Bumblebee to the dealership to get his voicebox fixed. The USB port doesn't work, and they don't know why.

While I was sitting in the waiting room all I could hear was the manager of the place screaming and swearing at someone he was firing. This was happening on the showroom floor. No one was there to shop, but there were 2 other people in the waiting room for service issues. It was REALLY uncomfortable to just sit there, with no where to go.

I'm not saying the guy shouldn't have been fired (he apparently wrote down the wrong number of miles on a trade in by 50,000 to 60,000 miles) but they do have an upstairs office that the manager could have used.

This went on for more then 10 minutes. Very unprofessional.

But onto the USB port problems. They can't figure it out. They have tried reprograming the computer and it doesn't work. So they gave me an 06 Impala to drive for a few days as they try to figure it out.

I figured maybe one of you guys would have an idea as to what could be wrong. If you have any ideas I will bring them up to the service department if they can't figure it out.

If they can't figure it out, I think I will take it to another dealership closer to my house. The only reason I took it there is because I bought the car there, because it is my hometown and I wanted to give them some business.

Just had mine replaced a week a go ... It just quit working, took two weeks to get a new one in and 10 minutes to replace. Works great again now, but the new port is white instead of black but can't be seen in the console ...

Great pic of your car. If they can't get the USB working I'll be glad to haul it off for you.

I don't believe the USB ever worked. But I made a mistake on my part not to check it when I bought the car. I wasn't until after my trial period of XM stopped that I figured I could use the USB port for music. Then to my surprise it doesn't work. I have put in a regular flash drive that lights up when it is plugged in and it doesn't light up.

Sorry to disappoint, shuffler, but there is no way I'm getting rid of this car over a USB. I'll sing for music if I have to.

I plan on being the coolest old person ever in a few decades, just me and my Bumblebee. Maybe I'll let my husband hang around too.

hmm i have problems when i hook my iphone or itouch to it every time.. like i have to pick playlist and then hit the back button and then hit playlist again to actually see my playlist, and sometimes when i go to playlist it reads the songs that i have not the playlist soo its definitely a little screwy because i just got a 2010 infinit g37 coupe which also has a usb port and it reads everything fine and flawless.... plus when i play it, it also tells me that the device cannot be read in the middle of a song... so im thinking i should take it in

I use an iPod Classic.
Sometimes I have to do a reset on the iPod to get it all back to normal.
To the Op... if you're not getting the "power light" on the drive that you're use to, it's probably a problem with the internal connection somewhere between the jack that you plug into and the stereo itself.

Hmm..

That's a warranty issue. Your Camaro has 3 years or 36K miles bumper to bumper warranty that covers everything including the tires. If your USB isn't working have them repair it.

I have this issue too - but only since upgrading to the iTouch. My car worked fine with my old iPod - never had any issues with scrolling through menus or anything. Now with the touch it won't pick up the device sometimes and it does that weird sht with the playlists and songs.

I think this is more of an issue with the fact that Apple updated it's connectors and software with the new iPods so that any old ones you had wouldn't work and chargers all had to be replaced (unless they were USBs)...

Sounds like they need to replace the PDIM.

The car is at the dealership for the second time. They are trying to fix it. But they don't seem to know how. All they can tell me is 'your camaro's messed up'

So now I'm stuck with the 06 Impala. But considering the unprofessional manager that went on a 10 minute swear fest in the middle of the showroom floor, if they can't fix it in the next day or two, I'll try a different dealership.

I just believe in keeping business local and I know that their chevy dealership is the smallest in the area. I wanted to be loyal...

I believe the "thumb drive" has to be a max orf 8GB and less than a certain number of tunes. I think itis 2500.
