I Should've bought an SS

Seriously, has any one else noticed the price mark up on almost EVERYTHING!? $8k for a good set of heads?! By the time I get done with this motor, I will have invested enough money, i couldve bought another Z (slight exaggeration). I remember it only cost me like $5k to do a HCI upgrade on the ole 2002 WS6 Trans Am back im 2008!

...and you want us to say??? We agree? So sell it and buy an SS.

I'd rather drive a 505 horse Z/28 then a 1,000 horsepower SS.

I had a 1LE before the Z28, 1LE was good on the track, but the Z28 is so much better. Going faster is not always mean more power.

Hahahahaha! Touche' I'm actually the same way. When I bought the Z, i was looking at a 2015 Stingray Z51, but couldn't stand the thought of being in the base model. Plus the body control is marginally better in the Z. I'm just venting my frustrations to what I think is the only crowd that will care.

It's good to hear some one with that experience! I've driven a 5th gen SS and it handled like my silverado. I've never been in a 1LE, but I have wondered lately if it would've been a better base. I know deep down I made The right choice. for the longest time I thought a Corvette Z06 w/Z07 package was my dream car... yhen i bought the Z and can firmly say i wouldnt trade it for the world. I just need to won the lottery haha!

Enjoy what you have and when good fortune comes your way upgrade to make it all the better! But "never" driver someone else's car with upgrades you are not ready to buy, as you will never be happy with your car again until you get them!

I had a 2014 ZL1, then a 2009 ZR1.....both amazing cars......but do not compare to this incredible machine. IMHO the pure driving experience you get with the Z/28 can't be touched, no matter how much HP you have.....

This! I am fortunate enough to work at the proving grounds, and gotten opportunities to drive lots of amazing cars. I wanted a Z/28 from day 1, but figured I should at least drive some other stuff and make an informed decision. I love the 6th gen chassis, and I especially loved the A10 ZL1 (despite my preference for N/A engines). Nothing could replace how much I loved the Z/28 when I drove one the first time here, it was everything I had imagined. If money were no option, perhaps I would own both or an auto Grand Sport and a Z/28.

I know it does not mean anything now but modifying the engine might give you some incremental enjoyment hopping on it but overall hurts the value of the car long term. The car can be fully enjoyed for what it is IMHO.
The C7 Z06/Z07 is quite a machine and if you drive one it will be your dream car again. Nothing away from our Z/28's but the Z06 is a totally different animal. Life is good!

This is actually what started me down the path I'm on. Between a modded ZL1 and CTS-V, I just started looking for boost.

Everyone on here is making valid points! It's exactly why I made this post. I really like to read about the diverse experiences of everyone on this forum. Thanks all!

I completely disagree with your Stingray statement my wife has a 2015 Z51 with Mag Ride and it is faster on the track than the Z till the brakes boil and fade badly. The car is wicked stiff but settles in the corners way better than the Z does. If the Z51 had our brakes it would hammer the Z all day long. The Grand Sport with Z07 option to me is the ultimate track car from GM right now.

This! I maintain that car is pure voodoo on wheels. I am not a vette guy by any means, but that car sure has my attention.

I couldn't afford one and they are common. The Z28 is so much more special. People flock to see what it is. I really did try to get a GrandSport. New they were $35,000 more then what I paid for my New Z28. That $600 more a month. There is a huge difference in a $700 a month car payment and a $1300 a month car payment.

The Z28 was the best car for me. I am very happy with it. I still want the Vette but not more then the Z28. I want to pay the Z28 off and then try to buy the vette.

As for modding your Z28... why? Are you actually a good enough driver to already be at the max the car has to offer? If so then just do exhaust and intake for now. If you not then focus on carrying more corner speed and perfecting your driving rather then straight line speed.

I have a vette with 622 RWHP and I am faster around a track in the Z28. The HP is not the only factor.

The Z28 cost no more then a Vette to mod.

The LS7 heads are pretty good heads. The MAST ones add some hp/tq but for the money it's a diminishing return on investment. I had mine "fixed" by WCCH and called it a day.
